Early 80's Gig.....Help! — Forum Archive

Received a cassette from Mario H a good couple of months back with a few Neworder tracks on it, sound quality shit hot. There are 4 songs on it, I think Mario said it was recorded from the radio around 83/84. We need to know what gig this is, so if anyone can help!

Songs played : Hurt, Your Silent Face, Age Of Consent and In A Lonely Place.

I have played the cassette against all my early boots and I don't own this gig, there are two clear clues, Hooky fuckys up his intro to Hurt and at the end of a cracking Age Of Consent, Barney says "Thanks an lot, thanks an awful lot"

If anyone has a spare couple of hours......

Shunter, the stats. on this site indicate that NO refused to play a gigolo at the Haçienda back in '84. But I have a sneaking suspicion on the contrary of this. Although I haven't the cassette tape available to analyse at present, I'm more than 40% confident that your query could match this gig.

For bootleg aficionados the cover was predominantly green with a black overtone and featured a grainy piccie of the band consuming pickles.

Nice one Shug AOC is cracking, isn't it? I still think it's some German gig as there are some audience remarks which are clearly in German Went through all the setlists from 83-85 and my conclusion was it must be the Haus Nied, Frankfurt gig. 31 march 1984. That's the only concert where those particular songs were played...but then again, i could be mistaken.

Yes if it's not the Haçienda then I'm most certain it can only be the Haus Nied gig.

This is easy stuff though Shunter, personally, I'd be a little embarrassed to even post it.

The tracks you listed aren't in sequential order though, sounds like the best ones have been extracted. They only played all 4 of these at three gigs, believe it or not!

Nope matey, nothing received at all.

Good timing on the Dylan front though, ma dad was round mines on Saturday saying how good the last couple of CD's were, he's giving them to my other two Uncle's who are also Bobcats of the biggest variety, they didn't have them either, so nice one! Put yer address in the next envelope and I'll send a DVD as a thank you :beer:
