I totally agree Charles. In 6 months time WFTSC will exit the album charts. Maybe it should have been titled "Hey Now, What are New Order Doing?". I think people are just so hyped up about the new album that they cant see any wrong in it.
Whos Joe? - would have been called Hey Joe, if Jimi Hendrix hadnt got there first. Is an ok song but a bit messy.
Hey Now, What You Doing? - Is for me the best track on the album and the one I can see being a corker live.
WFTSC - i get bored halfway through as it just follows the same pattern throughout. The interesting verses dont compensate for an uninteresting and bland chorus.
Krafty - short for Kraftwork? Definately one of the better tracks. But still pretty predicatible territory for NO.
I Told You So - is absolutely brilliant. It goes off at a tangent but it works really well. Got a great vibe about it and its different to anything NO have done before.
Morning Day and Night - is alright.
Dracula's Castle - a mess, over produced, lame chorus and everything but the kitchen sink chucked in.
Jetstream - quite good, ruined by opening 2 lines by Barney.
Guilt Is a Useless Emotion - superb verse, terrible bridge ("Van Gogh", "than gold", "then go"???), and average chorus. Should have been so much better.
Turn - fantastic, more natural sounding song. Will stand the test of time.
Working Overtime - not very good. Barneys vocals just dont suit the Stooges guitar style of song. A poor closer.
Get Ready has 5 excellent tracks at the start. Then 2 dodgy middle tracks and then 3 good tracks at the end.
Yes, I know not many will agree with me, and think Im over critical, but thats only because I love New Orders output from 1981-1993. I guess they were miles ahead of the game in this era and now everyones caught up. Just like what happened to Kraftwork.
