I wonder if Joe's a cat? Could someone help me out?

The first part of the lyrics goes that way I believe!

That idea definitely does not fit into my theory.

I'm sure we could spin something around it, but I must sleep now. Night night everyone!

Well, there are a few cats with "eyes like an old wounded soldier" around this neighbourhood so it is plausible yes.

My cat really likes the last 3 seconds of this song...

A lot of people here is a Joe. They are also known as John :D

Bernard said he has no idea who Joe is... ;)

a bum, or derelict, or homeless person, or houseless person

I don't believe it's a homeless person. More like someone who ran away from home or a woman. He could easily be anyone of you.

I have a theory that the song relates to the demise of that wonderful speccy 80's puppet-like character JOE 90!!!

He's a tramp - Barney said so in the press release, didn't he?

Somwhere between your opinion of GIAUE and NOBabe's opinion of GIAUE is where I reside on the issue. As dance tracks go, I prefer MNAD.

Not a cat fan. I like pumas, though.

And NObabe says "Don't fookin' kick the cat in the street not even if her/his (Is cat a male or a female in English anyway? Well it is definitely female in Serbian) name is Joe." :nono:

You might try listening to her question mark, T.

I'm four days away from 36 years old. See Napoleon dance for Pedro's campaign and you'll get a good idea of what I could bust out if MNAD started spinnin'.

If Joe's a cat, then judging by the lyrics, it would appear that Bernard has an unusually strong obsession with a pussy.

There is a Jo Cat's Pub in Milwaukee. So if you are ever in Milwaukee and want to discuss this Joe = Cat theory, we can do it over some drinks at Jo Cat's (I'm buying). Jo Cat's make a fine stop on any Brady St. bar crawl.

Since when has Milwaukee ever been associated with drinking?

Ever since Joe has been associated with a CAT!!!!

"You had your heart broke by a woman... she said you had it coming."

On further analysis of the lyrics Hannet labs have concluded that Joe is indeed not a cat, but in fact, a pussy.

The 'purring' noise at the end of Who's Joe sounds like a the purring of a contended cat, perhaps sleeping in front of an open fire. Wonder if it's the "open grate" that is being banged on in Hey Now...

I'm not sure if you're being serious about "open grate," Big. I always thought it was "open gate." But that's lyrics, and I've vowed temporary abstinence from lyrics.

My cat really likes Temptation! Not sure whether it's because cats are supposed to like certain notes or what, but every time it comes on she gets on my knee and tries to lick my face :confused2:

It could on the other hand be a huge coincidence.

Everything that cats do has enormous significance.

Marie, I think your cat is just happy for you supposing you like Temptation very much. They feel everything, I know, been an owner of one for 10 years. :)

Maja, do you stroke your pussy very often??? Should we call Mrs. Slocomb???

Sorry but I have no idea who that Mrs. might be.

Character from V. popular 70's comedy series Are You Being Served.

She was always going on about her pussy, in order to get cheap laughs.

I don't know if total coverage of where the cat is licking it's owner would be wise - not everything may get past the moderators.

My question is: do any New Order songs make you want to lick your........cat?

Joe was first "immortalised" by Inspiral Carpets in 1988-89. It is believed that Hooky's DJ workings with erstwhile Carpet Clint Boon of late have had some influence. The Hookmeister General is believed to have spun said Carpets disc, prompting the question within the band as to the identity of Joe, a question which is carried on to the WFTSC release. Maybe we should be asking who Lordsy is instead?

Full marks for not calling it Hey Joe. The guitars are alright, but would not stand the comparison.

Two things puzzle me still: why is the song not called: Where's Joe? I mean, how can you try to find someone when you don't even know who you're looking for?? Now Barney's is getting us all puzzled by trying to find out who Joe is and if he's a cat or not, when instead we all could help and try to find where he is...

secondly: how a cat can has his/her heart 'broke by a woman' escapes me really... (but pleaselet's not go into that matter as well...

Well, if we are mistaken about whether Joe is a person or a cat, then "Who's Joe?" certainly is the appropriate title.

Who, indeed, is Joe? A cat? A human? One of Odysseus' ersthwile sailing companions?

I don't know, but my favorite song lyric involving cats is:

“When I get my mobile home, I’m gonna dance in my mobile home, gonna find a lot of cats, let ‘em loose in my mobile home.”

No idea if NO's Joe has a mobile home though.
