New Order`s Take On Joy Division Songs

Looking around various forums, there seems to be a difference of opinion on whether NO should play JD songs at forthcoming gigs. Ive not seen NO live since 1986 but, hey, Ive seen the DVDs and one JD song that I think they done well was "Isolation". I always thought the music to it was more New Order anyway. Changing the subject, when are we going to see more song titles with a "tion" or "sion" on the end. I used to think it was compulsary!

I only heard it played once on a radio station on Long Island and that was it.

Then I bought power corruption and lies when it was first released on vinyl and then i was hooked.

Something I could relate to spiritually cause it was so DARK...I loved it.

Just to get back to the thread title, I think i've heard enough of new order doing joy division songs. Surely Ian sung them better. Barney would have no chance without the autocue anyway. Would just prefer to hear more old new order stuff this time around. Am I gonna get shot now?

I hope they stop it, but if they must then one per concert will do. They could alternate them ie Love Will Tear us apart one Concert, Athmosphere the next, and perhaps Isolalation, or Transmission for the next.

Another vote here for Temptation - the original version - as New Order's best song. It has a quality that they have never matched, but their best is always when they approach the emotional and spiritual substance of Temptation

As far as NO re-recording JD, I don't think they would. It's one thing to play the songs live, but to record them again without Ian doesn't jibe right.

But if they were going to do some JD tracks I'd like to hear:

Not at all, I agree on all points. Ian's voice ain't too clever these days though, so it's Bernard, a guest singer or nobody!

I liked the version of LWTUA then too(I think so anyway?) find more recent performances a bit too umm upbeat?

How about ceremony though?
