Behind the Music and New Order

Just finished writing an email to "Behind The Music" on VH1 requesting that they should do a piece on New Order. For Christ's sake, they did an entire show on Depeche Mode, why wouldn't they do an entire show devoted to New order?

It would seem to make perfect sense having a BTMusic about NewOrder, because a lot of the bands they profile are bands that have an album that is going to be released or has been released not too long ago. This would be a perfect time for the band to peak the interests of all their lost and forgotten fans and perhaps gain a new following, especially after they learn about all the incredible bands they influenced during their careers.

Yes, BTM sometimes is a sign that the band is past their "apex", but face it, NewOrder is not going to get any popular, especially with the dismal state of the record industry nowadays so it would be great to see them on that show!

I would also loves to see a show about The Smiths, but getting the guys together for interviews has got to be pretty tough.

You're right, Rob. Can't remember the last time I saw the Orders on VH1.

Because instead of a suicide attempt/drug overdose/multiple rehab visits, the members of New Order simply fell out with each other from 1993-1998. From a show's perspective, nothing too dramatic or entertaining (or maybe if they spent 1/2 the show about JD, the other 1/2 about NO)

Mind, I feel it should be done as well, but you never know what the Fat Cats will do.

It would have to involve the band's participation wouldn't it? BTM is usually for nostalgic groups of yesteryear. New Order aren't there yet. They still sound amazingly in sync with what's young, cool and sexy in popular music. And they can keep the illusion going as long as they don't actually appear in their videos or sleeves, which they never have anyway.

that's right - it would have to involve the group. that's why there has never been a behind the music for van halen.

I'm quite happy with New order Story

If I was at Warner Bros., I'd be talking to whatever corporation is in charge of BTM to try to put together a episode on New Order and put it out to help market the album, that is if you believe giving them more exposure helps market the album.

Personally, I wouldn't want there to be a Behind The Music special; it would erode what's left of the mysterious New Order image.
