Just got the 2x LP of the album...

I had to put the records in the sleeves.

Just thought I'd share this useless FACt with you all

How did it come, then, T? I mean where were the records?

Perhaps a cyclops dropped them off by hand later, P.

By the way, DC, I'm glad to see you've gotten over the little cold or whatever it was that seemed to be bothering you for a few days.

Well, after the Keeper of the Winds dropped off the sleeve I expect.

Does this mean you're finally beginning to take an interest in the Odyssey parallels, DC? Have you looked at Revision # 2?

Your work is admirable Pats, however I still suspect you are ever-so-slightly overestimating Barney's depth of lyric. But I do like the way you're soldiering on.

Far from any sort of snub, P. Life was merely intervening in my NOOL time, as it has a habit of doing. Plus my timezone here is really not conducive to conversing with Americans especially. Unfortunately so.

I assume you read that Under the Radar article where he talked about needing to go off by himself for days at a time to work on lyrics.

I think the world underestimates him.

P. I managed to catch the last 3/4 of the hollywood version of Ring on Monday. In addition to having seen halfway through from the start of each of the 1st 2 Japanese versions. Was curious as to why you hated it so much.

I hated it because I could see absolutely no logical connection between a video that kills you if you watch it and a little girl in a well. Perhaps I missed something.

You got that she was able to transfer images onto film somehow? Like in the x-ray slides?

As I said, perhaps I missed something. I would welcome an explanation if you feel like taking the time for it.

It makes much more sense in the Japanese versions. Ringu 2 lays it out pretty well.

So I'm to understand that it's necessary to sit through multiple films to get an explanation?

There was a scene from the mental hospital were the psychiatrist was asking her to explain how she produced the images on slides, they looked like x-rays slides, one was a horse, I think. The husband also found them in the archive files, they fell on the floor.

And what was her purpose, exactly?

I watched "Sideways" last night. There wasn't any NO in the movie but the characters did drink a lot. And I think Virginia Madsen is hot hot hot.

An inate compulsion she was possessed with and unable to control.

Was that the reason she was put in the well?

Do you think I'd like it, LE?

Not knowing what kind of movies you enjoy it's tough to know, but I found it entertaining. I wouldn't say I loved it, but for a $4 rental it was enjoyable. Not much of an original plot: guy getting married in a week joins his college buddy/best man for a week in California wine country to get drunk and play golf. However, the characters are interesting - even Jack, played by Thomas Haden Church who was Lowell on TV's "Wings". Give it a try, P.

Thanks, LE. I probably will at some point.

The parents realised she was 'possesed' and did it to prevent her from causing anymore harm. Though why whe was unable to escape, when she able to appear from inside a television, is far from clear, as this would surley involve some kind of teleportation capabilities. Perhaps she needed to be in close proximity to a television set, in order to do so.

As an aside does anyone else think Naomi Watts bears a resemblence to Nicle Kidman? I understand they're best friends as well.

And was there any particular reason she would choose the medium of a video to do her dirty work, with its relatively limited destructive capability?

Or was that somehow the most she was capable of?

No idea. The brilliance of the whole ring thing also failed to pre-empt the onset of digital technology. I imagine some form of obsolescence will kick in completely within 20 years. Probably even earlier for the Japanese version, what with their consumer habits.

Well thank you for your explanations, Hank. I appreciate it. But still, to step back a little, I guess I felt that the concept of a killer movie was so strong, simple, and powerful, it was just disappointing that the explanation would not be equally strong, simple, and powerful.

I assume you would agree that the explanation is not strong and simple.
