This just in.....

I just got info that New Order will be playing on the Jimmy Kimmell late night show, which is being taped in L.A. on April 27th. Free tickets, but limited in number to the studio audience capacity (however many that is). They'd probably only play one or two songs, knowing how those shows operate, but there you go....

Finally a show I can see on TV!

For anybody, that's on ABC, April 28th at 0:05 AM... they record it at 6pm on the 27th.

Uh.. I guess it's the same time in each time zones?

Awesome!

I just got my tickets for that night. This is great because I'll get to see them a couple of days later at Coachella!!!

Actually, if it's on live that night (which I assume it is, esp. since rock bands don't typically lip-synch on American TV), I WON'T be able to tape it. I don't have any cable service here at the house, so I get no channels! I would if I could, but I'm sure there are plenty of other kindly septics who would be willing to tape it for you. I'll ask around if any of my friends would be able to do it.

Well some go and tape it.

well, if they're taping the show at 6pm on april 27th - which I think their website said, (my birthday, yeehaw!), then don't u mean that it'll be airing at 0:05 AM April 28th?

You are probably right... I didn't see the time it was recorded... so it's ok to assume it'll be shown on the 28th at 0:05am, which is the original date we were given.

Funny I never herd of the show before, but I just looked in the paper and it is on 2 times here:

Access channel at midnight (12:00am) ABC at 1:05am

But I don't get to Palm Springs until the 29th, so I will have to miss it. But I will be sure to record it.

Good going Joe! Look forward to seeing you on tv! (Somebody in the audiance needs to cheer for them! as I suspect 98% of the people wont care)

I think this show was famous the first few episodes because Jimmy Kimmell had an open bar for the audience  That is until some stupid bird got smashed and puked/made an ass out of herself!

But eh, it's American TV....can't wait!!

For those of you that do not follow the exploits of Jimmy ot his show, last year the Cure played two songs on-air and followed up by playing I believe four more for the studio audience, a mini-concert of sorts. I heard Tears for Fears did the same thing this past year playing three or four songs. Hope NO treats this like Later with Jools and play a few numbers for the crowd.

I believe New Order only did 4 tracks for Later, and all were aired. They did more than one take on some tracks (I believe they did Crystal 3 times, though only JG would know) because they/the producer weren't happy with them!

Got my tickets for this. Kimmell is actually pretty funny... he used to be on the morning show at KROQ in L.A. His first show had Coldplay live out on the street. Should be fun!

Got mine too, thank goodness they still had some. I hope nothing happens to make this not happen.

Somebody should send a message to April !

More info from Paul Boyd:

Just a note about Jimmy Kimmel Live....... I have been & saw The Cure on Jimmy Kimmel at the studios........The stage is a covered outdoor stage behind the theatre, & they sometimes allow bands to do as many as 3 songs, but 1 or 2 is the norm. Also if you check the website at: http://abc.go.com/primetime/jimmykimmel/index.html You will find that occasionally they will archive music clips for re-watching.

Also, notice the Sony CONNECT logo, click on that & you can buy the mp3 audio of the songs as performed that evening usually about an hour after the show has aired on the USA west coast. Oh, and Jimmy Kimmel Live, is TAPED at 6pm PDT, it was live for the 1st 6 months, but 7 second delay censors for naughty words were not catching the bad words and after Janet Jackson showed her boobie they began taping.

cheers paul boyd

Haven't actually seen anything by Jimmy since he left The Man Show, so I don't know how his late night show is going.

Definitely have to set the VCR for this one, as I imagine a lot of interested people might already be down in California for the shows that weekend.

Mike, my little brother, apprentice Order fan that he is, will be taping the show for me. If you don't get any other offers, I'll send you a copy. Hope you can convert from NTSC.

Darn it. I am a tad late and all tickets are sold out!

Is there still a chance I might catch newOrder backstage or at the gates somewhere?

Has New Order appeared on late night American TV before?

Regardless, it seems they are taking the US promotion for the album seriously.

Let's see if they make it to Leno or Letterman, or better yet, Conan O'Brien.

Reminds me of a scene in Arrested Development, where Michael was explaining to his mother that the fat man who bullied her into signing Buster up for the army was NOT Michael Moore, but in fact a Michael Moore lookalike for a stunt on Jimmy Kimmel's talk show. To which the mother got an annoyed, dismissive look on her face and exclaimed:

"I don't know who this person is, and I don't want to!"

With all this talk of TV appearences, does anyone know of video footage from the Canal+ show in France last week? The live audio tracks in the AUDIO/VIDEO archive are quite interesting. (Though the vocal on Krafty aint that strong)

I just got back from the show and let me just say... IT WAS AWESOME!!!

We had a great time and most (if not all) of the audience was just there to see New Order. The best was when Hook got off the stage and started walking around playing the bass, but then he just stood in front of me and played for a while!!!

This was a great experience, especially since this was the first time I've ever seen them live in concert. Sunday I'll see them again in Coachella.

Set list: Krafty Love Will Tear Us Apart When The Siren's Call Crystal Temptation When The Siren's Call (again ) Transmission

See separate thread on this forum, but you've only got until tomorrow (April 29th), so hurry up before it self destructs!

Not only that, but the files are in the audio/video archives in lower quality... so some people are really not looking too far... :nonono:

I too was fortunate enough to get in last night even after the Fire Marshall showed up and said they weren't allowing any more people in. Luckily for me, we had green room passes and eventually got let in.

To start the night off, I got to meet Tim Burgess. That in itself is exciting being that I've loved the man for years now. He said they are working on getting together to record a new album. He is based in LA full time now and his wife was kind enough to take a picture of us.

Then came New Order's set. It was amazing. I was so happy they chose to keep playing even after the taping was over but I suspected they would considering other bands had done similar things before.

The best part of the night came afterwards when we found ourselves in their dressing room right in front on Barney. After waiting for Tim and his wife to finish talking, we went right up and said thanks for the performance. He asked us our names and I had to be the fan that tells him that they truly are my favorite band of all time. We had a good 10 minute conversation before management pulled him away to do something else. He was nice enough to say goodbye and thanked us for coming.

I cannot wait for Oakland and Coachella. If you guys are seeing them at all in the US, you are in for a treat. They seem really into playing the new stuff and ready for tour.
