There is no Temptation 2002 on the disc...

Only the 98 Reading version and the monumental Taboo #7 on the 81 NYC concert.

Thanks but the booklet credited it. Then again I think it credits the clips they show during the interview and that's what I'm probably thinking of. However, I'm certain it looked like it had it's own section in the booklet making me think there was an entire performance of it.

I think it is a hidden track Marc, i've been pressing every button on my remote to find it with no results, i suggest you take it up, if it is listed on the dvd insert then it has to be there somewhere, perhaps one of our more learned friend can help (please). I do have this clip on video and mp3, it was filmed in daylight hours and you can see Prince Edward at the start but stuffed if i know where it is on 3 16. Send me an e-mail mate.

It is on there!! Well, the sound is anyway...

At the start of the "In Conversation" bit. Confusingly, they don't use the correct video, but the sound is definitely from the 2002 Commonweath performance (ie a tape of Temptation 98 with Barney singing live over the top). For some reason the video used is just the Reading 98 stuff, crudely edited to make it 'fit' the soundtrack. Why they did that is beyond me.

Obviously you didn't watch your DVD isn't it?

Temptation-98's video is on there... with the interview.

In the video of Temptation at Reading 98 before the interview, there is a short bit near to the end where it shows the band performing Temptation at a different place, as they're wearing different clothes and stuff. It only lasts a few seconds and is mixed in with the video. Could that be a bit of the 2002 performance,or do I seriously need to get out more?

Are you sure about this, OB? The audio from the vid at the start of the "In conversation" bit sounds like the studio version of Temptation 98, not a live one. It is identical to the Temptation 98 version on Retro, save for a little synth swell after the "oh, you've got green eyes" lyric.

Or so I always thought:confused2:

Well, I haven't watched it for ages...

I only remember it's there because ripping it off the DVD was the only way to have Temptation 98 to listen to. Until Retro arrived, of course.

The actual Commonwealth performance was them on stage in Manchester (town centre?), outside, in bright daylight. I'm sure they mimed - except Barney's vocal which he did actually sing.

Having had that version firmly stuck in my head, I remember that when I played the Retro one for the first time that the vocal sounded different.

I could be wrong - maybe I should listen to them both again more closely.

Right - having had 30 seconds to think about it -

Temptation 98 on 3:16 is the studio version. The one I'm getting mixed up with is a VHS rip of the actual TV broadcast that I had even before 3:16 came out. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Still doesn't explain why the content on the 3:16 DVD isn't what is advertised on the sleeve...

The other gig footage during "Temptation 98" on 316 is from the Apollo July 98 gig if im not mistaken.Barney is wearing a pale blueish shirt.Theres more footage of that gig on the Finsbury 5 11 DVD in the 98-02 section - In A Lonely Place.
