What song are they gonna open with. I thought Crystal was a great opener 4 years ago - this time my money is on Waiting For The Sirens Call - anyone any better ideas?

Who's Joe will be the smart choice of many I would think. It builds, in the way they like their openers to.

I think WFTSC would be one of the worst choice for opening, because it's mid-tempo, without tension, and quite long. If they open with a new song, Who's Joe, Morning night and day, and Dracula's castle are suitable.

Agreed about Joe the Opener but if only they decided to play that one live. But my intuition tells me it's gonna be Krafty, in HP at least.

Opening Joe sounds a good guess, but they should change the organisation of their sets and start with songs they usually play in the encores. e.g., Temptation.

WITHOUT A SHADOW OF DOUBT THEY SHOULD OPEN WITH "HEY NOW WHAT YOU DOING". IT IS THE ONE SONG FROM THE ALBUM THAT WILL MAKE THE BEST TRANSITION TO THE STAGE. IT ROCKS!!

As much as it pains me to say that, NO Regret, I doubt it will happen.

That'll be second, as per the album.

I think it would be great if they opened with Theives Like Us. They haven't performed that one for years.

Be good if they opened with something which immediately grabs you by the balls, like Love Vig did at Move. The band themselves don't seem to get it right first time every time: that Atmosphere, Slow Jam, Crystal triumverate at the Liverpool comeback was just dire. Took them a few gigs to work out how to do it properly!!! If they do open with Who's Joe then would be good to follow if with a barnstormer like Ceremony, Regret or Crystal and not another track from the album.

Elegia. All that pent up energy in the crowd and nowhere for it to go, a return for cantankerous New order. Swiftly followed by ceremony or AOC though.

nah, they should open with Blue Monday...get it out of the way...

AGE OF CONSENT!

I think "Here to Stay" is fitting - both from an upbeat standpoint and a message stating "Here's a (relatively) new single, we've got a great new album out, and another 7 in the hopper fermenting, you bastards!"

Most would be content if they simply waddled out, played Turn five times in a row, then pissed off to bed.

I'd agree :thumb:

Age of Consent and Love Vigilantes would also be great openers.

Oooh, I dunno - I was nearly in tears when they opened with "Atmosphere" at the Olympia. I was, however, absolutely fucking mullered!!!:thumb:

I'm with you on this one, this is a stunner to open up with. Have they ever performed it live?

I'd love TPK, but I'd rather hear it as an encore. Here are five that pop into my mind:

Love Vigilantes Vanishing Point Hurt Ceremony Age of Consent

I think Who's Joe? would be good, but only if they immediately followed it up with something much more upbeat, like Ceremony.

Say it yet again, opening with Sirens' followed by Regret. And if they bring back TPK, then that would make it just about perfect. I can't wait, all will be revealed on the 29th.

Who's Joe...it just has that great new order opening vibe cuz of the build up in the beginning.
