Xiu Xiu is a Freaking Freak.

I spotted a cover of "Ceremony" on the US iTunes - the clip sounded ok so I bought it. MISTAKE. Xiu Xiu's vocals sound like he's strangling and castrating Ian at the same time. Unpleasant.

Xiu Xiu is a band you either love or you hate. Most hate them.

I, on the other hand, greatly love Xiu Xiu because they're doing something to divide the masses and make the most fucking heartrending music of any band currently in operation. It tears up your heart and your ears at once...an acquired taste for sure, but they are making the music as painful to listen to as the ultra-personal subject matter of the songs.

If you haven't listened to their debut album, Knife Play, you don't know what you're missing. Every song is a class in tragedy.

I've never come across that version, does it stay true to the original (other than the vocals)?

Xiu Xiu is so funny and over the top, thou he prolly is not very everybodys tastes'here. He makes Robert Smith seem restrained and like a total poseur.

his/ Xiu Xiu's take on "Ceremony" is actually very respectful and true, if rather noisy and features his tradement melodramatic cry-hysterical- yell singing
