Blue Monday: the biggest selling 12" of all time, has (officially) been re-released by the band twice in the past 17 years. Once in 1988 on Factory, then again in 1995 on London. People who dislike remixes best look away! 
Excusing for the moment that re-releases are generally a lame excuse by desperate record labels/bands to cash in, which do you think did most justice to the original 1983 release?
For me it's definitely the BlueMonday-95 mixes. Hardfloor did a great job of reworking the track (and Barney's new vocal) for the nineties plus a couple of other '95 mixes were interesting too. Blue Monday 1988 sounds totally cringeworthy and always has. Whatever possessed the band to allow Quincy Jones to fuck over the definitive 80s electro song with "Boy this is too much!!! etc." and manic laughter samples we'll never know! 
Factory and the band must've been too coked up or desperate for any old re-release to notice how bad it was. London may have been cashing in on (the best/rest of) with BM-95 but at least they did it properly. Even the artwork on those singles was miles better than the bland '88 counterparts.
IMO of course.... discuss!
