I'm hoping to find the origin of them all, ultimately.
For this thread, please confine yourself to speculation as to the source of the lady at the start of the track who says "it's only one more day". I can also detect the sound of a man's voice. If he can be proved to be part of the same sample, he can be discussed here also.
Future threads will deal with the tapping fingers and other sounds.
Now that that's been clarified, I don't know the source of any of them, including the female voice. But I'd certainly be interested to find out.

I didn't have the sense the woman was from New Jersey.
Yeah I wondered why they bothered including some woman saying "one more day". Quite pointless don't you think? And doesn't really fit with the song at all. There's probably some kind of meaning to it though but I don't think any of us are going to find to the answer too it anytime soon unless Barney, Hooky or Steve come in here for a good discussion.

Now then. Where is her accent from? Why won't she let the man speak? Is the whistling part of the sample?
I think the sample adds great value to the song. Sometimes I imagine I can detect a note of pleading in the ladies voice, other times I think she sounds quite dismissive.

No, the cork is something that I think I hear, but it's a bit later. Around the time of the ice, although ice and a cork popping are somewhat inconsistent. You wouldn't want ice cubes with champagne.

If something you can hear is conflicting with your theory you should simply ignore it.
Theories are hard things to develop; you don't want to have to be modifying them all the time.
In any case, I think you are refering to what sounds to me like a match being struck.
A cigar or cigarette may be just the accompanyment to a fine whisky (I am assuming that it's a whisky glass - it sounds like the one that was used on the cover of the Electronic 12" Getting Away With It").
Either that, or someone is planning to burn the airport down.
