Kimmel Review

Crowd was ready for New Order to play as the show began. Barney seemed a little unsure of himself during Krafty often staring at the prompter but the whoops and dance steps were the only thing that livened his performance. Those bastards at the network cut LWTUA off before the song ended. Even then, the one song they should be burning the house down with seemed sedated. Maybe he is ill, maybe nervous but just not really into it. AT least I had achance to see them on American tv.

Maybe because New Order have played on American TV as much as they've recorded an album stone cold sober!

Krafty seemed to get off to an odd start, a lot of nervous glances, esp. by Phil and Barney. Seemed to sound flat at first, but got better towards the end (maybe they needed to warm up).

LWTUA was a nice touch, with the obligatory "shout out" to Ian Kevin Curtis. Wish I could've seen how it ended though

Is it just me, or did anyone else find it disconcerting that Barney's own taped backing vocals were used on "Krafty?"

Couldn't Hooky or Phil step up to the mic and croak out "One more day..."? Or just leave it out?

Jetstream et al I can understand, 'cause it's the voice of someone who's not there. But your own voice coming out of of a DAT player somewhere...creepy.

P.S. I was kind of worried about them dragging out LWTUA again, but the lads tore it up.

Watched it on a local ABC affiliate here from 12:05-1:05 CST.

LWTUA was snipped unceremoniously to shove in commericals. In fact I have never seen so many commercials on a late night show. For a band that Mr. Kimmel seems to endorse heartily and gave them rather short shrift at the end (to much yacking to those Maloof characters and other idiot acts although Eric Idle was a good sport...almost half expected Hooky to come out and do something thracking his bass).

The crowd was tuned up for NO from the getgo by American TV just does not deliver...

At least I finally saw them on American TV (of course tapes it on high qualify tape at SP speed with 4 head VCR.:D :D

I don't know, here in Winnipeg we got to see the whole of LWTUA.

I watched it on my roommate's TV. Krafty wasn't bad but the vocals on LWTUA seemed off. The band seemed nervous, which was expected since they haven't appeared much on American TV. My roommate, a Greenday and killers fan, saw a bit of it and commented that Barney "was such a dork" from how he was dancing on stage. Also about LWTUA, the higher key makes the song sound too optimistic.

This afternoon I was thinking the same regarding your comment on the taped background vocals. I would prefer no backing vocals to the taped ones. I was also wondering how it effects his timing while singing.
