Opinions on WFTSC

so what does everyone think? honestly i have had this playing practically non-stop since i bought it on tueday afternoon. i dont think its great. the lyrics for the most part are very bad. jetstream.. i cannot stand it, Krafty is decent. so far i like "i told you so" and "Guilt is a useless emotion"(i think it would have fit Better on an Electronic Album though) the best, but i dont think there is a classic NO Track on the record. i dont hate it but i was expecting a bit more. i think get ready is just as good if not better than WFTSC well thats my Opinion Anyway

I play it non stop without a skip. It´s just the kind of music I like. Lyrics are meaningless I think, but they sound good.

I love the new album. The sound is great and there is really no need to skip any track. (I still think "Jetstream" is the lamest thing on this album . But not lame enough to be skipped ) The CD is in my "heavy rotation".

I think its a good album, although I've replaced Jetstream with the Richard X radio mix, and guilt is a useless emotion with mac quayle version. to me that makes the album sound even better. Now I wish they would release remixes for every song. Fav tracks are wftsc, giaue (mac qualye mix), turn, & Dracula's Castle. Stand out stuff their, & I bet dracula's castle would sound great as a remix, maybe even a instrumental as I've heard some people say.

I agree that it's a fine record. I don't have a problem with Jetstream like a lot of people do, I actually think Hey Now What You Doing is the weakest track.

Krafty is maybe the best pop song in a decade. And the more I listen to it, Dracula's Castle is quintessential New Order - especially the plucked strings near the end.

I've only heard up to track 7 so far, so I'm still undecided on whether I like it or not. It usually takes me somewhere between 25 and 50 listens to a new album before I'm pretty sure whether it's a keeper or a stinker with me. In the immortal words of Mr Sumner from Raise The Pressure, "Only Time Can Tell" :)

I bought the recent Saturday copy of The Guardian with the FCD. Morning Night And Day is a brilliant song, one of several songs that have far more potential for remix/reinterpretation.

I agree with you that Krafty is not a sublime melody. Some lads think it is one of the best songs of NO ever, I dont understand that. Maybe this is not nice, but I think it´s a teletubbysong. But I dont skip it by playing WFTSC, its not that worse.

I´m very impressed by Hey now what your doing, especially the guitarparts.

When i first got the album I skipped it every time but now I can let it play straight through. Happy with all the other songs generally - I tend to like the 'different' ones (Working Overtime, I told you so) because they make me feel as if the band are still trying to push the boat out & try new stuff. Also like GIAUE (great title!), HNWUD, Turn, Title track, Hey Joe, etc.

its a real driving album to me - Car, sunshine, wind in hair, PLAY IT LOUD - you know what I mean - it deserves to be played at 60mph & in the sun

I think the new effort is very lame. I considered sending/donating the cd to someone who wanted/needed it but I'm already out $13.00...if you are in town you are welcome to come by and get it.

I agree with you, and i have a special place in my heart for Dracula´s Castle. I call it a trainsong´, songs with a rhythm like a train. Other songs in that category: driving me mad´ from Neil Finn, and `Driver 8´ from REM.

I think jetstream is very undervalued. Ana and Barney make a good tandem. If there was some interaction in the video, i think mtv would be obligated to play it.

according to my calulations the album rates a B+

Actually, my favorite track of the moment is "Dracula's Castle"... the rolling stone review actually singled this one out as the only bad track or something like that, but i disagree. obviously. it's got a great vocal melody, lots of interesting melodic variation, different sections, silly lyrics... quite classic new order i say. other than that, track 2 (at work, dont have the album in front of me), the title track and guilt is a useless emotion are all favorites. even the cod-reggae track is really good... least favorite track is probably morning noon and night or whatever. krafty isnt a favorite either. the last track doesn't make much sense with the rest of the album, but it's a good song. my main problem with the album is actually that extra guitarist guy. you can tell whenever he comes in, and it just doesn't feel right. too "rockin'" or something. too straightfoward. i've always really liked barny's guitar work and it just doesn't make any sense to have that guy doodling away as if he's in gene. i think it's a pretty tight album, better than get ready (which had higher peaks, but also deeper, more plentiful lows) and, in truth, more solid than a good lot of their albums. i've always been into new order as a singles band (their 12"s are my treasures) and it kind of disappoints me that krafty is such a let down. jetstream doesnt seem the right choice for the next single either, especially in america. i would rather see the title track as the next single, complete with over the top 12" mixes. maybe a dfa remix. those two would be perfect together. there you go, that's my asshole.

Took a few days to like it but when i did i loved it.that was back in feb though.iv ehardly listened to it recently which is a sign possibly that its not got staying poweer.but i go off albums for ages then return to them.

A solid New Order record. Not sure I like it more or less then Get Ready, but I like them about even at the moment.

Put it this way,I play it more than Get Ready,which is a good LP,but they strayed too much away from the industrial sound they made their own.This is a welcome back. Guilt Is A Useless Emotion is my favourite,begging for a good remix,and people may knock Jetstream,but try get the chorus out of your head? The Richard X Remix is much better.

I love the album, it has its own world. Great pop songs, classic NewOrder melodies, classic Hooky's lines, and even some new efforts.

i think the album is outstanding. i've been a Neworder buyer since Technique. When Regret came out, i was converted from Buyer to Fan. Electronic played an important part here, since the first Electronic album was and is my fav record from the whole decade.

But this album converted me again. i guess from Fan to Lifetime Loyal Fan..... An instant classic for me.

Since 1983, my fav band was Duran Duran. I own every f*cking record, cd, single, 12, etc they've done. More than 150 items. So you can imagine. I've never even thought i would enjoy another band more than Duran Duran. That day has come for me after 22 years.

I love the album. I liked Get Ready a lot, but once WFTSC came out I think GR is kind of mediocre in comparison - though I love Slow Jam and Rock the Shack. What's so bad about them?? I guess I'm just more into the rock stuff then the dance stuff and am pretty ambivilant about remixes. Remixes were an interestsing thing to do in the 80s but now they really do nothing for me.

The album is MUCH better then I had hoped for. Jetstream is kind of cheesy but the vocal arrangements near the end are brilliant and redeem the song. I am kind of sick of Krafty and Guilt is...' because they're so catchy they stay in my head for days on end.

As a fan, people who don't like it that much may think I'm just biased and would blindly praise anything they release, but I sincerely think it's one of the best albums they've done. I like it much more then Low-life and Brotherhood anyway.

Get Ready was a fine album, but got old within a few months.

WFTSC took a few listens to get to me. Now every song is fantastic beyond belief. I rate it in New Order's Top Three albums of all time.

Took me a few listens to really appreciate the album, and now "i can't get enough of it"!

I know exactly what you mean. I've played this album so many times already and it just gets better the more you hear it

My absolute favourites are the title track, 'Turn' and 'Dracula's Castle' but I never skip a track. I honestly feel that this album is much more than we could have hoped for

Wow, I'm kind of surprised to see "Turn" so low on your list there. I think it might be one of the better New Order songs in years and I think it could have been a song that would have fit just fine on either Brotherhood or Technique.

But that's me, we all have our own tastes.:)
