I do like Shellshock. Confusion not as much, but I like the Electroclash version, which you probably haven't bothered to hear, if you don't like the song to start with.

I have that one, P. And I can tell you that my fav version of Confusion is Fat Boy Who Sase - Vegas mix. :)

I don't often listen to Republic, M, but I don't dislike it as much as some do.

I don't care for RIAD. And I think Regret is way overrated.

Ruined in a day??? P, now you've offended me. ;) I dislike Chemical and Young Offender. And I don't think Regret has been overrated, it's just that it sounds different (in a better way, of course) than other Republic songs which sound very much like Pet Shop Boys. Not that I have anything about PSB but I don't like NO sounding like them.

What about Times Change and Avalanche?

Avalanche-boring, Times Change-underrated. I really like TC, music is beautiful.

EE never really did much for me. I know a lot of people like it.

The weird thing about Slow Jam (or Slow Death as the erstwhile Huntsman amusingly used to say) is that the song has been played on Australian TV almost every day since the release of GR. It's featured in the ad for Ford's flagship model here - the Falcon and the "Can't get enough of this" is the slogan for the car. It's quite tastefully done and to be honest, hearing it in this context over the years has actually made me appreciate the song more.

Of course if Pats ever came down here, watching our TV may indeed induce a Slow Death.

Anyhow it was a memorable one, up there in the comical sphere of Turn My Feet.

I prefer when the title of the song wasn't even mentioned in the song. I also like their unique album titles-- very ambiguous, very "new order."

While it doesn't ultimately matter very much to me, I agree with you, Vince. I always like the ambiguity of their titles and the obscure relationship between them and the song itself. Of course, many of the titles were chosen at random, but it's still fun to think of ways they are relevant.

now that you're talking about Republic, what do you think of Special? i think together with Regret, are the best tracks on thr album.
