... there will be more to come when WenOrder will be back, he has some of mine on his laptop and many of his! So here they are, with comments.

I had a meeting with the band's management where they wanted to chat about NewOrderOnline, to our surprise, at the end of our breakfast, Bernard walked in the restaurant and joined us for breakfast, so these are the pictures.

Ye old webmaster with Bernard Sumner!

Still me & Bernard.

WenOrder & Bernard

Blurry version of WenOrder & Bernard

After the breakfast, we went back to the hotel's lobby to meet Kamar who was interviewing Hooky (don't miss his radio show next monday to hear it), but then the whole band actually came in the lobby (but Bernard who left to see the doctor for his ankle) to our big surprise! they all signed then the CDs we gave away at the after-party and we took a few pictures.

This is SARGE, you know him, the band's body guard ;)

Me & Phil Cunningham

Kamar took this picture of all of us...

Better version outside with Andy Robinson as well.

2nd shoot.

Historic picture of the day

David Sultan, WenOrder & I

2nd shoot... I think it's Andy Robinson that took the picture, on WenOrder's camera, he's between the two of us.

Nice pics there, Nic! Can you tell us anything about what was discussed at the meeting concerning NOOL?

Oh I forgot to post this one... it resume my own experience...

It's a joke, I've been sleepy the first 2 days and probably rude to a few people because of that, and I said "there's only a 1 hour difference here, and the guys from the UK feel fresh at 6 AM and I'm not!!"

Just for the record, that's my plane back to Montréal, I had the idea while I was on it ;)

Hum, let me resume this, because I can't go on and say anything concrete. The bands wants to help us paying the bills, but don't want to pass via the label to make sure we remain independant and don't have to take orders....

We haven't finished our meeting, so nothing is set yet, but it's very promising...

Yes, we did have a very positive conversation with the management. As nic said, there are still things to be discussed. I have a phone call on tuesday. we'll see where that goes.

Overall, I had the time of my life. I still can't believe how fortunate we were and how things unfolded. I'll wtite about it later when i am more awake. In the meantime, here are my photos, you'll have to filter out the crap... I did not sort them out yet

Breakfast with Barney? Jeez.

Interesting photos guys and excellent news regarding the website discussions with the band. Look forward to hearing more of what was said.

I could almost hear strains of "We are the world, we are the children" accompanying that photo of Spotnick and Sultan.

How I envy you, Nic! I would easily sell my parents for breakfast with Barney. ;)

bLuE oRdEr wrote: BTW, Spotnick, was that the first time you met the band? How was it?

Well, the only one I was actually hoping to meet in this trip is Hooky because Kamar manage to get an interview with him and I was supposed to be there taking pictures.

But at the Smart Bar, Johnny Giles was chatting with Andy Robinson which I kind of recognized from a very early picture we had, so I rudely interrupted their discussion to introduce me, because Andy asked me to hook up with them in Chicago, but I just introduced myself and let Johnny go on because anyways with the loud music, I couldn't hear much of what they were saying... anyways you get the picture, later on, he came back to me and asked me to meet him as his hotel, Rebecca also came by and pushed it a little later, so I was quite happy, I was curious to know what they wanted to ask me.

So we went to see Andy the next day at their hotel (the Sutton Place Hotel), I had his phone number to contact him and everything, we went to eat something because nobody had breakfast, and well, meeting Bernard was totally unexpected at that point, he seems quite a nice guy actually, but he's "british" if you know what I mean, reserved and cold, although I think he was sedated for his foot and going to the doctor, so that doesn't help, but we chatted on a few things, not much I remember, but I was still mostly talking to Andy, Rebecca also joined us to pick up Bernard and take him to the doctor.

Back to the hotel lobby to pick up Kamar which managed to get his interview with Hooky through Rebecca, we waited for him, Phil came by and we chatted a little, he seems seriously like a guy living the time of his life and that can't believe what is happening to him, he enjoys it a lot I think, he's a nice guy...

Hooky is "the" most friendly one I can tell you, he wants to meet everybody, and that's why he does those DJ dates as well, he enjoys it a lot...

Stephen did take some time to sign our CDs and take the group pictures, but from my own point of view, he's the less accessible one, it might have been a bad day for him, I don't know, he also left right after the show for his hotel, so nobody met him backstage.

What can I tell you, they were great, but we weren't expecting them to be rude with their fans of course, and their management were very friendly, especially Andy.

That was quite a day ;)

depthcharge wrote: Competition idea: Caption the photo where Johnny Giles is impressing Tracey.

Actually, check better, he's impressing all the girls one by one on each picture... :evil4:

Yeah, he's quite a friendly guy, but with everybody!

oldmonkey wrote: and we are supposed to tell from this? ;) is she invisible?

I might have a better shot when Mike will send me my pictures of the DJ set, but I didn't know then who she was... when Johnny Giles told me he didn't know how she looked like, I tried to take a picture backstage with my cell phone, but I'm quite sure it must suck.

Great pics, Nic, and glad to hear New Order would like to keep this place indipendent. An unofficial site supported by the band is every webmaster's dream, being recognized and staying free at the same time... But you didn't tell us how was the meeting with David Sultan, it's like seeing Reagan and Gorbachev in 1986! Is the Cold War over? ;)

I don't have issues with him, but I didn't discuss "the" issue that we had problem with several year ago (meaning html code stealing)...

Actually David is a nice guy, probably a 25 out of 10 on the New Order fandome scale though, you can't be more collector than he his, he wants to buy Hooky's bass and the Hacienda doors from Hooky... I mean, you have to be quite a collector to do that, because seriously, I don't mind too much about those type of things....

He gave me the list of his collection, I must see it is impressive.. so anyone in the Miami area, if you want to increase your collection, you know what to do :evil4:, j/k

But he helped us around with the "special previledges" we had, and gave us a ride to the NewOrderOnline after party...

Let's be honest, I don't have issues with him... he just piss people because he outbid them on EBay ;)

Maybe he could bid on some posters for WIM? Word on the street is I could be bought...

By the way, Nic, do you know who has "The Table"?

Let me clarify this story, I am not buying Hooky bass. I am just doing a trade. Hooky new bass "HOT TOO", his number one bass today (who sound amazing) was given to him by me in March 2005. HOT TOO was originally for me with a different headstock name (HOT is Hooky exclusive). I proposed a trade from the one I ordered. Then I contacted Chris and the bass was made under Hooky specification and he chooses the name on the headstock. HOT TOO was made by the same maker Chris Eccleshall who made HOT and HOT 1 HOT was delivered in 1984 HOT 1 was delivered in 1986

I will pick up HOT 1 in the next couple of month.

As far as the Hacienda Door, it was proposed to me by Hooky. Like Nick said, People got pissed of because I bid them on Ebay...Well let's face it today, I am not so much on Ebay I am getting free stuff from Record company. So go ahead enjoy Ebay I was in talk with Tony Wilson who wanted to introduce me to the director of Manchester museum, I may expose the collection one day. If you are curious email me and will send you my file, quite big today

That is probably the only thing I'm not happy I have missed... Whitecastle... but I was exhausted. Your cats were ok, except the 2nd night, they did indeed run back and forth and jumped on the air matresse each time and woke me up... until Lindsey got her bed back, then I had no trouble, they slept with you guys ;)

But hey, I don't mind... I survived did I? forgot the fries at the diner, that might also be the problem... not the pizza ;)

Now, for other people reading... try to imagine a french canadian guy at 5am (so 6am of his time) eating fries and listening to a discussion between a brit (Johnny Giles) and a pakistanese-american (Kamar) about RUGBY and CRICKET.... damned.. the translation engine in my head stopped to work at some time

Actually, he wouldn't.

I think if i ever met Bernard i wouldn't take a picture. No matter how friendly he is as a person he just looks like he really can't be arsed on photo's which is a shame for the fan. It's funny sometimes though:)

If it was me, I wouldn't even have one picture with anybody ;) I never asked for a picture to anybody, WenOrder did ;)

Call me shy, but for some reason I didn't want to bother them with such a thing, but I'm happy to have them though ;)

*You just have to be lucky and be one of the first to ask. He doesn't mind at first, but gets bored very soon.
