new live DVD?

So we all know now that the New York show was recorded, potentially for a live DVD release. That will make three since the band's reconciliation in 1998.

So is this the new trend then for New Order? Release a live DVD for every touring period instead of a proper DVD with all the videos and whatnot?

316...then 511...and how much do you want to bet the next one will be 412?

well I liked having an old show as well as a new one, as per 316. I'm sure they could track another show down to release such as the hacienda in 83 (as used in play at home) or G-MEX in 86 (also filmed but never used).

That would be good ,a new DVD..what about the chances of using the footage of when they played WFTSC for the video of the said song when its released as the third single.A lot of bands seem to do this .a "live" video.i presume its a cheaper option than havin to actually make one

That would be bloody awesome to have the Hacienda July 83 gig on DVD!

Yeah, bring it on esp. if they put a gig circa 83-87 on there as a bonus, just like they did on 3 16 with the contrast btwn NY 81 to Reading 98.

I'd prefer a dvd with all the videos they're so hard to see regularly I know there's videos on this site but they're small and I would prefer something for my tv to watch

My money is down that they will make the NY show into a dvd, i thought that was why they had ana matronic come out for jet stream, cuz it was planned the whole time.

I reckon looking closely at the way the jam did their double dvd set would be a good idea, get together all the TV appearances over the years (UK and foreign) and put 'em all out! there has been lots of good stuff over the years inc. the canal+ performance, live totp appearances, french tv, belgian tv, full riverside appearance, rock around the clock etc...

Wish the Chicago show would be the DVD, great set list, great atmosphere, amazing fucking performance.

Maybe I'm just not that much of a "live" fan (although I loved NO gigs I've seen + am going to Hyde). If it came down to a choice between new studio material (even b-sides) vs. a new live DVD I know which I'd be more excited about. I have a fair old selection of New Order bootlegs (about 20) and I've kinda "got the jist" as to how they are live; mostly awful but on occasion untouchable. Another live DVD would be a cash-in cop out. It's the easiest thing in the world for a band to do: pay a group of engineers to mix and edit the sound, pay Saville for a lacklustre (late) sleeve and bingo... more cash in the bank from fanbase sales.

I'm not saying they shouldn't make money but they should try something different with their next DVD release, for their own satisfaction more than anything else.

What does releasing a live DVD have to do with a new album? New Order themselves have little to do with the DVDs besides actually playing in them, so there's no reason why we can't get one of this year's gigs, hopefully one dug from the past, AND new material.

Give me New Order live any day over their weak studio offerings.

Most their shows are filmed. However they don't appear as dvds. Most likely is a TV special on pay TV.

What's the status on the New York DVD? Have they confirmed they're doing it?

As Ronald says most of their gigs are filmed, it doesnt mean you will see a DVD hitting the shops of the show! edited clips are taken for tv shows and montages etc.

How Different will a Live DVD from NYC be from the Finsbury Park one, other than the Four or Five New Songs they played, you have BM, Temptation, True Faith,Crystal, Regret, Etc all on the Setlist how many times do you need live dvd's of them playing basically the same set, now a collection of TV Appearences and Interviews Spanning their Career Would be Interesting, or Even a Documentary of them on Tour, Behind the Scenes would be cool. i personally dont think they will release NYC on dvd.

I think a behind the scenes dvd of them recording the album or on tour would be fascinating, agreed we dont really need more live dvds of what essentially is the same set.

I thought they filmed alot of shows last tour. I'm guessing they wont use this one. Its to close to the 511 concert. Take out the Get ready songs and add the Sirens songs and you have almost the same thing. I'm guessing we will get Jetstream from the NY show, and it will end up on a special features somewhere. But I would like to see one of the UK shows filmed with the new old songs that they promised to play. 3 or 4 new old songs, 4 Sirens songs and Run wild, we could get 8 or 9 different songs from 511. That sounds good to me.

As for the video collection I would like to see them wait until the next CD is finished, so we could get all the videos from Sirens and the next cd. I remember buying the Pet Shop Boys dvd "Popart" and it was missing the two new songs from the Popart cd, very disapointing.
