Can't believe nobody ever did this poll, unless my memory is bad today.
Sorry for it, I'm waiting for a damned hard drive to format and it takes forever, so I had too much time on my own ![]()

Really? I believe there is 2 of them though...
Hooky! He should not only play bass, but write the guitar parts. I vote Hooky for New Order Dictator. Bernard needs to retire, he should be demoted for awhile.

Who?
I feel sorry for Phil, as he's not likely to win this sort of poll - so he got my vote. Plus the Jammy bastard ended up with my dream job.
I think Steven is probably the fave from 'original' New Order, BTW - the quiet ones, you see..

Well, do I really have to say it?
Bernard and Peter... both did solid solo projects but are at their best when reunited.
Mr. Morris for his skills behind the kit, sequencer, and computer
Runners up:
Mr. Hook for being resident bass God (can't get that image of him going crazy on the edge of the stage at the Aragon out of me head)
Mr. Sumner for his heroic alcohol/drug intake over the years
Mr. Cunningham for bringing a youthful spirit to the band
Mrs. Gilbert-Morris for bringing some CLASS to the group (81-01)
Mr. Otto Que for giving us the dance moves and between song jokes we all deserve

The Other Two was far better than Monaco and the embarassing Revenge. "What Do You Want From Me?" was great, sure but Superhighways and The Other Two are light years ahead of the rest of Peter Hook's solo dreck.
Plus, I remember stories of dodgy sequencers overheating during live performances and Stephen Morris having to program them on-the-fly. What a legend.
I can't choose, they're all great ![]()
but the whole is even greater than the sum of its parts methinks :)
Oh come ON, it's Peter 'the god of bass' Hook, who else?
Although he does look like an old man as of late, really..
Steve, he keeps his mouth shut, doesnt draw any attention to himself and does his job very well.
The Hookster, naturally. At the first of the 2001 Brixton gigs he came over to the front of the stage during YSF right in front of me and a group of lads. We were all screaming at him and frantically gesturing for him play his bass even lower (it was already around his ankles).
He just stared at us and sneered.![]()
This is a bit rediculous don't you think? Fav New Order member? Well they're all great cause they all played a part in the contribution as New Order as a whole, they're all great.
I thought Hooky and Barney graduated secondary school at bottom and second to bottom of their class respectively?
Odds and education defying geniuses, not all genius comes from classroom studies, and we know their brands of genius don't.Making songs like temptation is a pretty powerful stroke of genius to my mind. The sound hooky makes with his bass, has to be at the very least, genius god like

Back to work Maya and Post on your own time!
I vote for Steve. The only original New Order member who could play his instrument properly.
Until Phil came along... ![]()
Then again, I love Gillian, Hooky and Barney too...
Very difficult. Maybe it would be Bernard, he's the singer, he does guitar, keyboards, lyrics. Some amazing stuff with Electronic too. But I did vote Hooky. Best bassist ever, friendliest member of the band, and best solo album with Revenge.
Hook.
I just played Monaco's What Do You Want From Me, and it is frighteningly good, must have scared Sumner shitless.....
:)

I doubt it. I love Monaco but it gets on my nerves that David was always trying to sound like Barney.
Maya, the problem is he does sound like Barney, even when he speaks, so he hasn't to try too hard. Anyway I like his voice, it's still different enough and no other could sing great songs like Shine like him...

Everyone of them is a genius, this changes as much as my favourite song. Today it is the King of bass guitar
it's not nice to play favorites![]()
Hooky is in his own way hella cool, hard not to love... Hooky is sort of the "heartand soul" of New Order, Steve is sort of the "spinal cord/ system of nerves thru-out the body", while Bernard is sort of the "brain and or penis"
Great post, well said PFD...
Shoud be used as the intro of the updated version of NewOrderStory, if they ever make any...
