Ok after getting some new speakers into the Wells cave, out came a lot of older records and I ran through them to find out if I even liked them any more...

Highlights of this bands work in roughly chronological order...

Ceremony Dreams Never End Procession Cries And Whispers Temptation Turn The Heater On Age Of Consent The Village Your Silent Face Leave Me Alone Thieves Like US Love Vigilantes Perfect Kiss Sooner Than You Think Face Up Paradise Bizarre Love Triangle All Day Long Every Little Counts Love Less Mr Disco Dream Attack 1963 Regret Ruined In A Day Everyone Everywhere Behind Closed Doors

And Electronics' Some Distant Memory... and Section 25's Crazy Wisdom which should have been a NO song if Barney wasnt so gracious...

Those are the high points for me... so see kids, there is a lot to like... and reason to keep hoping that some of that magic will return... surely it could... couldnt it?

And the bizarre thing is, you've never sang along to one of them in 25 years! ;)

PS. Only three songs from Republic though AJ?! And rather safe choices at that. Seem to remember you're always championing this album on other forums?!

Blimey "AJ Wells lists his favourite New Order tracks" well this one's getting bookmarked. While I'm sure the band are breathing a sigh of relief you actually like some of their material after all, a lot of people here really don't give a shit.

For the record, I remember you quite clearly from alt.music.new-order along with your old mate Eddie Colton who I am relieved to hear has finally fucked off (long overdue). I find it absolutely hilarious that over five years on from the last time I clapped eyes on anything written by you, you're still whining on about the same old things. Usually if I dislike a band I stop listening to them and take their CDs down to the second hand record shop, I don't rant for over five years about how they've gone downhill to an indifferent audience. I have a funny feeling that if I bothered finding a UseNet server and logged onto alt.music.new-order it would be like stepping back into 1998.

Perhaps if you run you can catch up with the bus Eddie took to obscurity.

Well tenacity is what makes New Order fans just a little bit different and a little bit better mmm?

And again, I think what makes me a little different is that I love the bands MUSIC, not the band itself... every once in awhile they do something to make me think that my idea of them is justified, only to have it come crashing down again...

I have just resurfaced because of all of the activity surrounding the live shows... and as usual most fans moan and groan and ask if I dont have better things to do... but I still get notes from even new listeners who get it, so my public service hasnt fallen on deaf ears completely... but I will soon be on to bigger and better things... after the recent response to their TV appearances I dont think the band needs anyone pointing out their shortcomings... only the most deluded hero worshipper would be blind to the state of things...

It's nothing to do with hero worship, AJ, it's just that the majority of people who post here have grown up into adults. You should try it. Please explain why on earth I should give a shit if Barney dances like a twat or Hooky wears elbow patches on his jumper? I don't. I might only start to be concerned if they came on shirtless in skintight satin shorts. But that ain't gonna happen, is it? Well, I hope not.

Who cares if some people think Jetstream is shit? IMO, State of the Nation and the Subculture rehash were far, far worse. And don't get me started on the likes of Spooky.

Are you worried about going into the office tomorrow morning and having all the Radiohead fans snigger at you because New order aren't (chuckle) 'avant garde' anymore?!

In a nutshell, AJ Wells thrives on people responding and taking him or his views seriously. If he gets a reaction it's like pouring a gallon of petrol on a fire and he loves every second, even if you're insulting him. Personally I think that's a tragic aspect for any individual to have; attention seeking of the highest and most pathetic degree. He's not here to talk about New Order, he's here to fuck people off and feed his ego and that's why I'm not going to bother responding to his oh-so-witty "hero worship" comment. It's not worth the wear on my keyboard.

I'm only really dedicating these two posts to this moron's discussion so I can let other forum users know (from experience) what he's like: if you engage him seriously in debate your fate is consigned to "death by bickering" I'm afraid. Best thing to do is ignore him and hope he "unsurfaces" like his mate Eddie.

Oh and his 'bigger and better' things are most likely scrubbing the loo, I kid you not.

Reminds me of the sort of thing I would have written in 1985, but I like to think I've grown up a bit since then:uhoh:
