With all the changes that New Order has gone through, what do you think Ian's opinion would be on the band if he were alive to see them today, as a ghost or something?

Would he be like....

"Dude...Barney! What the fuck have you guys done to my beloved goth group JD??? What's with this dance shit like Guilt is a Useless emotion? I'm bloody pissed at you! C'mon....we're goin to the nearest pub and you're gonna buy me a few drinks while you try to explain it to me!"

....or would he be like.....

"Wow! Look what we have here! A whole new and breathtaking take on JD, and I LIKE IT! Barney....dude...I gotta give ya props for taking JD to a whole nother level. I never though I would enjoy these dance tunes like Guilt is Useless Emotion, Fine Time, World, Perfect Kiss, Vanishing Point, etc. C'mon mate....let' go have a drink and maybe you can show me some of those gnarly dance moves you did at the last gig"

I doubt ghosts come back as Americans. I reckon he'd still speak like one of them old fashioned Mancs, from before they invented Manchistorrr.

I dig it. Who would Ian have worked with?

Maybe Lennon in 1994???

Curt Cobain in 1997?

I'd go with john squire from The Stone Roses,if i were in Ian's shoes. That would cheer him up,and get Mani and Reni on board.

The bloke would most probably have one of his epileptic fits. Once Bernard was lead singer, he was in control. It was clear he wanted to move away from the dark, depressive punk style and more into a happy, pop-like style which I personally prefer. I actually think Bernard wasn't too keen on the style from the JD days. He was just guitarist and thought, well what the fuck, i'll play a few chords to go along with this. But once Bernard was lead, all was changed, Bernard wanted to move away from the JD sound, and into a completely different sound, and that is ultimately what happpened. The only thing that remained was Hooky's bass.

It was Curtis who wanted the band to pursue a synthpop sound.

He'd say "Boo!" jumping from around the corner and then would add "And Rob and Martin are behind you! Uhr! Uhr!" while Barney shits in his pants...

he would tell barney that his dancing is lot more fun then having epileptic fits.

i honesty think that if ian didnt fuck off , they would of headed to new order teritory musically.

I could see joy division doing blue monday.

Im sure wherever Ian is he is very happy for the guys. He probably would eventually hit on gillian.

I'd love to hear some of Ian's lyrics over some recent New Order tunes.

No offence to barney BTW. He still has his moments.

Good theoretical question that! My guess is that he would be so disgusted at some of the tunes and lyrics on New Order's latest album and the way the band have arranged them he would tell them all to get stuffed and fuck off to join the Scissor Sisters - and replace their lead man Jake by dressing up in all manner of camp flamboyant gear. I bet it would be just like Ian's nature to do that!:evil4:
