During the chorus? Yeah, I hear it, but it's a very popular 4-chord progression. You could probably find "A Forest" in a hundred different songs. I'd have to think about it a while, but I'm sure I could come up with other examples.

Thank you for not slagging me down. 
I feel like half of Hook's basslines (I love the viking) are recycled on WftSC.... but do not hear Cure stuff.... he is mainly just recycling himself, and that is fine....
most artists do it...
there is only so much you can with 12 notes on a bass, especially without chords.... !!!!

Hooky stated that fact on Kamar's interview. When asked how he comes up with basslines, he said he goes through rehearsal tapes and finds the good bits then pieces them together. Sure he recycles but when you're the greatest bass player to ever be named Peter Hook, you'd have to, right?
The chord progression from 'Day of the Lords' is (at some point) in 'Who's Joe?', I think. It might be a different key, but there's some similarity.
I think that's also something that's been so far neglected about WFTSC. The root note/basic chord progressions on a couple of songs do echo JD at some points, funnily enough.
WFTSC has a lot of track to track fluidity. A lot of keyboard intros or codas, kind of like how Unknown Pleasures has a lot of songs starting and ending with the drums.
Anyone else notice this?

I wasn't "slagging you down"; it's just that your comparison isn't a valid one in my opinion. JV's right - the bassline is much closer to Day of the Lords (which accounts for its working title "Lordsy") than anything by the Cure. Crystal bears a closer reseblance to A Forest, but only in passing.

You were, admit it...His point was pretty damn valid since he did bring up quite a discussion. I love "A Forest"...I totally hear the bassline as well....it is just at a slightly faster tempo and not as pronounced as in the Cure's song.

I would just like to say at this point that I stole the bassline from "A Forest" for my new single "Not 'A Forest' by The Cure, Released in 1980. Totally Different But Similar Tune". 
It's an original composition, recorded by my band The New Cure Order Goodtime Jazz Band (and Traveling All-Stars), and is no way inspired by the title of Billy Dee Williams' film "Bingo Long's Traveling All-Star Baseball Team" (or whatever the actual title was)

I heared a similir basline as the Forest from the Cure, and also read that Hooky mentioned the Cure many times in interviews lately, in a not very positive way: `We are not the Cure!!!´ and that sort of things. I thought that was funny, but it is nothing against Hooky or my lovely New Order.

Listen to Crystal....its even more blatant. A music reviewer noticed it and wrote about it...I almost choked when I heard the progression on Crystal.
