I heard about an old version of "Temptation" where you should hear Barney laugh, because of Hooky and Tony Wilson putting snowballs into his shirt, while he is singing. Does anyone know where to get this version?

Its on the original 12" (best version IMO). On CD can also be found on the RETRO box set, Factus 81/82 EP. Bernard's shriek is quite audible a minute or 2 into the song.

How far into the song is it exactly?
I'm listening to the retro version now & I havent noticed it around 2 minutes - there was the bit of shouting around 50 seconds, but i always thought that was them geting ready to pump up the guitars another level.

I think that's it. I had always wondered what that "mistake" was.
Speaking of this version, I'm looking for some clarification on Substance. Forgive me for probably retreading stuff that's been discussed long before I came on the board, but let me understand this correctly:
Confusion and Temptation, '87 versions:
Are they different mixes/edits only?
or,
Are they different mixes/edits with new vocals by Bernard?
or,
Are they completely new versions, re-recorded by the whole band for Substance?
I haven't heard Temptation 12". What's different about it? Different sequencer, more or less guitar?
Taras is pretty weird; Barney's ridiculous, but I almost like the synth setting more than '87. 511 had a thinned out sequencer track. Didn't look like Phil was doing much for that one.

Re-recorded new versions. Personally, I prefer Temptation '87 over the original (I know it's a bit slick but it doesn't sound as dated). As for Confusion, I prefer the original over the '87 version. Don't ask me.
