Not a very well-developed thought on my part. I sense desperation in the song, like it is a forbidden love affair. The only one more day sample is errie to me and i love the whistling. I start thinking about this a little more.
Similiar to Bacon lettuce tomato (bizaar love triangle). Its a sweet pop song but their's a lot behind it.
Damn it Barney never gets any credits for his lyrics.

I should give more thought to the lyrics on this one than I have so far.
At the moment I'm just enjoying the remixes too much to think about what it means.

No need to apologize. It's the content that counts.
I wouldn't say they rank with BLT, but as someone said on another thread, they're very good, far better than the GR remixes (apart from Lee Coombs' Crystal). You should try to get them somehow.

Very tough call.....made me think a bit.....but I had to go with jetstream, but truthfully, I quite like both for the very sing along quality they have.....odd though, as an American I quite love WIM, especially live w/ Keith Allen......especially live....mmmmmmm

On hearing the song, I always imagine a guy flying across the world, just to be together with the stewardess he is in love with... Would have been a great topic for the video...
e.g. Barney (passenger) exchanging lustful glances with Ana (the stewardess) during the flight. After the landing they hurry to the next hotel... Next day - next flight - same thing...
Would perhaps have been a "children's program" problem so they didn't do that ;)
I actually love WIM, and like Jetstream. State of the Nation is far worse than both of them.

Yes, but the lyric takes on a darker edge when you consider the whole tune is filled with fairly obvious euphemisms for the fact that Barney's got the raging horn. He's got a cock like the M1, allegedly, and that's gotta hurt....
Oh, and for the record, I think it's ace, and I even like all the remixes: it's a beautiful, blue skied day here in Aberdeen. We don't get many, and with a backdrop like that "Jetstream" sounds just fabulous. Perfect summer pop, like St Etienne. But with better dancing, obviously.

jetstream isn't the greatest--it sounds like a take that song or mentos advert, not my thing (with the exception of 'back for good,' which kicks ass)--but world in motion is pretty damn awful, so i voted for WIM.
having said that, the E.T. effect applies to WIM--it's so ugly it's cute, and at this point has quite a bit of sentimental value. it's still embarassingly bad, though.

As I am relatively new New Order fan (since 2001) I haven't heard all of "World In Motion". But in my opinion, "Jetstream" is not the worst song on the new album at least. "Guilt is Useless Emotion" is worse I think. "Jetstream" and "Guilt" are the only tracks that I have any real issues with on this album at all. Overall I think "Waiting for the Sirens Call" is much better than "Get Ready" and this is coming from a fan of "Get Ready". Of course, I have heard other NO tracks, but I only have "Get Ready" and "Technique"(it came highly recommended, and I liked it, not as much as Get Ready). I am also asking for a official copy of "Waiting for the Sirens Call" and "Substance" for my birthday.
I just figured the lyrics to Jetstream were obvious, and it is one of my favorite new order songs...
I was sure it had to do with how Curtis died one day before them flying to America...
as usual, Bernard mixes up different things into the song, but part of why I like Jetstream is how it has that Blue Monday May 19th melancholy....
I think a lot of you just think Sumner has totally lost it and writes crappy pop, and didn't even give this song a chance.
It is beautiful and classic new order.
edit: I mean, most new order classic singles mix the melancholy meanings with the illusion of shallow pop music... some of their best music appears to be vapid pop at first, but on further reflection is super heavy..... Jetstream follows this mad chemistry....
and, no, I am NOT saying the 'jetstream lover' is per se Curtis... but the theme is about him.... sumner has done this type of insertion of curtis theme in other love songs.

When WIM was released it was a good song due to the tie-in with England's World Cup in 1990, but hearing it today it has lost its releavance especially naff is the John Barnes rap.
world in motion really is quite a good song. cheesy, but good. lots of interesting sections, etc. and the remixes weren't bad. i dont think jetstream has any business being here either, but whatever. its not better than world in motion. i have no idea what their worst song would be, but its not one of these. bad poll! bad poll!

WIFM came out about the time of the bnbirth of my first child. I had no clue about the World Cup implications. New Order released a single at a very important time in my life. I cannot hate this song.
