So this track was intended to go on Low Life, anyone know why it didn't? The 1985 demo is majestic and the instrumental performance from Leuven 85 is brilliant, but then the version that gets properly recorded is an inferior pop tune (still an alright song). A great song lost imo.

i was listening to the "original lyrics" demo just yesterday. i´m sure that version didn´t make it to LL because the melody Barney sings is very similar to the one he sings on Sooner. i´m sure that by the time they recorded that demo Barney was having those notes in his mind and finally he decided to use them on Sooner. and i´m sure that´s why they forgot about the melody ever since and started playing it instrumental. i also agree that the 94 version is weaker than the original.

My problem with the 90s version (Arthur Baker?) is that it sounds too much like meaningless pop, with the lalalas and the toned down, over produced bass. That's a good point about Sooner though, the patterns are similar, but as songs they aren't.
Something about the drum intro on that Salvation! instrumental version of "Let's Go!" from 1987 really has been bothering me for years now. I SWEAR it sounds like those first eight or so snare cracks are actually SAMPLED from the drum intro to "Paradise" off "Brotherhood" - listen again carefully with the volume turned right up - I can't help but get this feeling it isn't actually being played in real time. The drum sound is EXACTLY the same pitch and timbre. Is this what Steve Morris did?

the original vocal version should of been recorded for an album, that song rules but the only mp3 of it availible is low quality. Still, the song itself really is good, one of the emotional ones.
What happened was that while they wrote the song to include on Low Life, it was never really ready in recorded form to include. They'd played it live a few times as an instrumental, but baulked at the idea of having two instrumentals on the album. They weren't happy with how it sounded on that demo version with Bernard's vocal which, as already pointed out, sounded a bit Sooner Than You Think #2. In the end they ran out of time to get it on the record so had to throw in the edit mix of Perfect Kiss to give the record some reasonable length. They continued to play the song as an instrumental (which IMHO is how it should always be perceived), evertually adding some different lyrics for the US market a bit later.
