So Christmas has gone again...as suddenly as it has arrived. But, I've already noticed to my surprise that the local supermarkets here are already stocking up on Easter eggs - makes me wonder if the world really has gone mad! I mean, surely Valentine's Day comes before doesn't it?!

Anyway, got the NewOrder Story on video for Xmas - sorry if it appears I'm almost ten years too late getting it- that's cos no shops in Pontefract have ever been able to stock it - so my brother kindly found it for me whilst looking round the shops in Wakefield. Something great to while away a couple of hours in front of the box with a couple of beers and a big bag of maltesers then.....

It's an interesting record of the history, though I could quite happily have done without the Jenny Seagrove touch (rather unnecessary IMHO, but there you go), and there was absolutely no need for the "football hooligan" Keith Allen stuff, which was a bit embarrassing, and could easily have been replaced by interview footage surely ?

Are we ever going to see the New Order gameshow/quiz they were on - obviously they taped it....so where the feck is it?

Well. NewOrder story.......It's a spoof chat/game show thingy isn't it? With keith Allen in it (what a surprise!!), and nice to see( the sadly departed) Rob Gretton in there having a laff as well! I remmember it being on TV about the time of Repbulic, but this video version is much longer, with unreleased footage besides the promo videos - must say the later vids around the time of Republic aren't much cop - it's always their "midperiod" late 80s ones that were the most memorable - like who can forget that acrobatic dog in Blue Monday 88, and their Spinal Tap pisstake on Touched By the hand of God?? Genius! Perfect Kiss video is ace as well - not seen that one very much, but the sheer simplicity of it contrasts with the hugeness of the sound at the close of that track. I never realised State Of The Nation was filmed while the band were in Japan! Very dissapointed with Bizarre love Triangle's vid though .... a bit bland and doing injustice to the song. But all in all, two hours well spent in front of the box with a huge bag of maltesers and a couple of beers!! :)

I really like the New Order Story... watched so many times over the years I know the loody words. I like the bits when they are sat around the table reminiscing, specially the story about Ian and the fags, and Barney's theory on why BM was a hit.

But you have to aggree that the ending was pretty shite though......! It just looks as if they ran out of ideas or summat. I'm just left thinking "is that it?".

its about as shite as the ending to the interview on the3:16 DVD, so i guess its a reccuring theme!

Starting to suspect it may be deliberate - so that the story is never completely told.......

Mind you, they told us that Factory had left off the start of Ceremony on Still to make it sound like a bootleg, when it could as easily have been a cock-up ! More likely to have been because it was an unreleased (by JD anyway at the time Still came out) song ?

I watched NewOrderStory in a tent at the Phoenix Festival in 1994. They put this on just before the Italy-Brazil World Cup Final as everyone was cramming in to get pole position. Quite funny the amount of abuse Barney got in that bit where he's asked if there's ever likely to be another New Order album (or was it gig, or something?) and he goes, "Hmmm. Not sure." Ooof, that bit made me blood boil.

Does everyone remember the night it was first aired in the UK, before it was available on vid? On the same bloody Sunday night as the Order headlined Reading 93! Of all the cheek!

Actually Nigel , talking of cock ups at the beginning of songs, I'd better draw everyone's attention to the very beginning of "Senses" off Movement on my original FACTORY issue of the CD. I don't recall anyone on these threads having mentioned it before, but does anybody possess such a version where the first two or so bass drum beats are missing right at the start of the intro? - sounds like as if they made a mistake mastering the song onto CD so to speak? It's bloody weird actually, and like I said, i can't rememeber anyone else here bringing this to attention - unless my version's faulty of course, which i don't think it is.. any one with any verifications? Cheers.
