So, time has past... how to you now rank WFTSC tracks?

For me it's just got better and better. I REALLY wasn't expecting something this good - it's pushing Movement as my favourite. Anyway... I don't see the point in ranking individual tracks, but here's a few comments :

The first six tracks are pretty much flawless, working individually and as a whole. Each track is stunningly arranged and has some quintessential New Order moments. For example - the chorus of Who's Joe, the way the synths come in after the second chorus of WFTSC, the last minute of Krafty, the beat-change half way through I Told You So, the intro to MD&N, the way Barney sings 'I've Got To Find You' on Who's Joe?....I could go on.

I am still not convinced that Dracula's Castle is as good as the first 6 tracks - not quite such a strong melody maybe, although I love the piano. Jetstream is wonderful pop and it's great to hear them slightly out-of-character and having out and out fun! Guilt is the only track I am really struggling with - it's good, but not quite...*there* (yet). Turn is wonderful, yet slightly overated by many folks around here - it's simplicity is beguiling, but I feel they could have done something a bit more dramatic with the chorus. Working Overtime is absolutely fantastic - a synthesis of garage-punk, The Fall and New Order like we've never heard them before.

similiar thoughts about turn, spotnick. At first i didnt like i told you so, but now i listen to it all the time.

Turn just doesnt too that much to me. It just seems to basic too me.

Really like the Krafty remixes especially Morel's, I love the dark sound and Hook's bassline in Dracula's Castle, and love the guitars in Hey Now.....I Told you so should be a single, really catchy albeit Electronicesque. Working Overtime....I guess if you like Oasis a lot....

I can put Jetstream anywhere on this list depending upon what I am looking for in a song. I spent 12 hours remixing it this weekend so, I could use a break.:D

All in all, this is an EXCELENT album, and the 11th best song is better than most-of-the-albums-that-are-released-now-day's 3rd best track.

I would include some "remixes" that I liked more than the "album versions" and my list would be:

Jetstream, as mentioned on previous posts, is unfortunately, a grower! Unlike most I actually love I TOld You So... it's different. A refreshing change.

Good question, since the rankings have shifted quite a bit:

1. Waiting for the Sirens' Call - The record peaks at 4:17 into this track.

2. I Told You So - Hey, I'm as surprised as you are. But I just got back from the Caribbean, and this reminds me of sipping rum punch on a catamaran. Awesome bass guitar work from Hooky, nice fuzzy tube-overdriven Vox guitars, nifty synth toms from Steve. Nice lyrics too.

3. Who's Joe? - That same magical synthesis of guitars and synths that made Crystal such a great track.

4. Hey Now What You Doing - See No. 3.

5. Turn - It's a great song, but Steven Street's thumbprint is so heavy it's like anyone could have performed it. Do you think Phil has listened to any Smiths records?

6. Jetstream - Pure dance-pop confection. Mmmm...

7. Krafty - If this riff reminded them of Kraftwerk, who did Everything's Gone Green remind them of?

8. Guilt Is a Useless Emotion - A very good Les Rhythmes Digitales track, with guest vocals by New Order's Bernard Sumner.

9. Dracula's Castle - If you faded this one out at 4:15, it would be a nice Technique outtake, but instead it turns into a Twisted Tenderness rehash. And c'mon...how about, "deep in your castle" or something? Mblah, mblah! I vant to suck your blood!

10. Working Overtime - A fun throwaway.

11. Morning Night and Day - I've really grown to hate this one. A stupid topic, insipid lyrics...even the fart guitar solo blows. Someone pushing 50 writes about being hung over, and introduces it with an ominious operatic synth choir? No thanks.

I really like the first 7, they've all got classic moments. 9 and 10 are pretty good, but 11 doesn't do much for me I'm afraid. Overall, I rate the album as my favourite.

Yeaaah, come on! He has seen the fookin light! I knew sooner or later it would start to grow on some fans... the tracks you dislike at first but then grow on you are the ones you enjoy the most... it doesn't happen very often today, because I usually get New Order songs at first listenings, but when it happens it's pure joy because you don't feel them on the surface, you feel them deep inside your heart... This "recently" happened only with Here To Stay, which at first I thought it was just an average light synth pop track but then I got its full magnificence. But remember, I hated Blue Monday, and then it became my all time favourite. If it happened with that song to me, it can happen with any song to anyone. Keep on trying and join us, the enlightened ITYS lovers! ;)

I tend to find that ITYS is VERY VERY Happy mondays in style musically,with obviously no Shaun Ryder on vocals,I love the music on this track,especially the Mark Day-esque Geetar.I thought it was shit-hot as soon as I heard that guitar.....from day one I liked it
