Another stupid question:

When and why did the tradition of the writings on the speakers start? Who writes the stuff and what are the best (or worst) things ever spotted (besides "Wiving Wegends" :evil4: ).

No idea anyone? Where are the experts?

The list below records 'Salford Rules' was on at Reading 89, I thought I remembered Free Jeff the Chef being on then - maybe both on different cabs. Can't remember anything specific prior to that though.

Bye Bye Dee Dee--Finsbury 2001

In honor of Dee Dee Ramone who past away prior to the gig.

Hooky probably does this.

Earliest thing I can remember was "Nero" on OSM, think I seen it with that on it prior to that too, but it was before he doubled up his rig to include the backup, so twas only a single cab.

I meant to say actually that I am GENUINELY shocked not to have seen a send off for John Peel on the Holy Speaker Grilles yet. Perhaps saving it for glasto or some such.

Bit late in the day for that, I'd have thought. Personally, I'd like to see "KISS.......MY ARSE"; or, indeed, "UP.....THE SHITTER"; or my personal favourite: "FUCK OFF......MINGE FACE"

Here's hoping.....

True, but mayhaps he did not want to waste it on the great unwashed outside the UK, saving it inseatd for the great unwashed, up to the bollox in mud and off their brains on buckfast and pills( refuse to say E, like I refuse to go near it any more cos whatever it is going down all those kiddiewinkles necks, it's got shite all to do with MDMA and simply can't be good) at glasto.

My suggestions: ONE LOUDER BARNEY IS A TWAT I'M WITH CUNTFACE (arrow towards bernard) OLD BASTARD ZIMMER FAME BOL LOX HELP, IT'S IAN I'M NOT DEAD BERNARD AND HOOKY LOCKED ME UP IN AN AMP 25 YEARS AGO, THE STEAL MY BEST IDEAS AND USE THE MYTH OF MY DEATH TO CREATE A MYSTIQUE. UP UNTIL NOW I'VE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO WRITE SHORT MESSAGES BUT NOW I MUST LET THE TRUTH BE KNOWN. I AM ALIVE,I AM THEIR SLAVE AND PRISONER,AND IT IS VERY V E R Y LOUD IN HERE.

Sorry, but after hearing NYC, I reckon the above is mild.

hmmmm I'm not sure if that's a comment about my clearly demented posting style ( brain operates WAAAAAY quicker than fingers), or on the NYC show. Let's just leave it as one of lifes little mysteries :)

Found on the linked website: "Roland Metzer reports this was "In remembrance of Germany's 1-5 loss to England during the world cup qualifyer in Munich...". Mark Harding reports this was written in German...

An unforgettable moment in the band's history. In fifty years time, grandchildren will be asking where we were when Heskey banged in the fifth. Whether this will be because of the rare occurrence of Heskey banging something in or because of the more common occurrence of Kahn looking about to cry, will probably have been forgotten by then.

You'll have to excuse the gloating, chances had been a little few and far between for 35 years!

I hope (and am nearly willing to bet) that we (Germany) will not make it into round 2 at WM 2006.

two world wars, a world cup and a decathlon!

i'd describe the 5-1 thrashing as more of a "dismantling" of german football as we had come to know it.....

'ave it!

I don't really watch football ( more of a racer myself), but I remember stickin that match on with the sound down, thinking of turning it up to hear what excuses the English were offering for this hammering. Then I remember seeing England ahead, that's when I turned it up thinking "mmmmmmm something wrong here". Ended up screaming at TV, could not believe England were playing like.....like....well like the buggers that invented the bloody game. Not to mention seeing a German side FLUSTERED. I remember in 1994, the Jordan F1 rolling out with Ireland 1 Italy 0 on it At the next race, the Minardi came out with Italy In Ireland Out

HEHEHEHE.
