My Jetpack just arrived from HMV with all the UK formats.

Fooled around on the u-myx software for a while, pretty basic mixing program, especially if you're used to something like Acid Pro 5.

Anyhow, if you isolate the High BVs, you'll hear some effects; a few atmospherics; someone like Hooky saying "Yeah.. nice"; some backing vocals performed by Bernard and Ana; and some mystery vocals. They sound to me like other members of the Scissor Sisters. Anyone have any feedback on this? I know Ana recorded her part in NYC so it's entirely possible that others got involved too. Although they don't seem to be credited anywhere.

I've noticed that too. It certianly doesn't sound like Barney or Hooky - perhaps Phil?

me confused...... Did you do this with bog standard EQ or does this have like bandpass/reject killchambers. Or is it a karaoke function ( frequency concious phase reversal) of some kind. it's just, it sounds a bit cool to be "basic" compared with acid (cubase user, and arrogant twat here, so I pretty much think of acid as for kids, DJ's and other adults with learning difficulties :) ). I have a lot of cool music software and hardware and I wouldn;t know where to begin to isolate bits of a track using anything but my ears :)

BTW if you're into acid (the program tsk tsk!), take a look at "Ableton Live", IMHO it canes acid into a cowering wreck and owns it's life eternal. But that's just me :) it's kick ass for actually jamming with other people too, as long as your drum programmer doesn't have a hatred for starting grooves on beat 1, which ours does[1], it tends to fook everything up no end.

Guess that's possible Oiler, but they sound like falsetto male vocals reminiscent of the SS's Comfortably Numb cover?

Do you have the actual software that came on the CD single, Steve? It's a pretty simple interface, it breaks the song up into 8 tracks and if you select an entire track you can remove it from the mix. Likewise if you click on all of the tracks apart from the High BV and hit play, you'll just hear the backing vocals. Hope this makes sense. The software you're using is a gazillion times more complex.

Perhaps I'm missing a Scissor Sisters' reference? I'm not really up to speed with their catalogue.

I agree - I'm not too familiar with Phil's voice, but he doesn't LOOK like the sort of person that can make a sound like that.

It certainly sounds like the gays out of the Sisters.

I'm sure it's not beyond the realms of possibility, however please don't be offended when I say that it really doesn't bother me either way!

You must be talking about the disgustingly out of tune high background voices on the High B V track?

Could be the SS, could be the band, who cares?

What do you mean who cares? Every frikkin minute detail of New Order is dissected on these boards and if another band has contributed to a NO track uncredited well yeah, I rate it worthy of a mention.

Or maybe we should just spend our time discussing Bernard's whoops or what everyone's least favourite track is for the trillionth mind-numbing time?
