before i start: The Stone Roses are one of the best bands ever. Go and see Ian Brown play stone roses songs live and that will be a testament.
As for Tony Benn. Well, i actually saw him in 2003, in belfast. I asked him a question about North Korea, and he said that Kim Il Sung was "misunderstood!" kind of lost a of respect for him after that...
As Liam knows, I mostly think he´s a cunt, but his comment about the Roses is spot on. They were so pointlessly great (even if only for 18 months) it´s scary....

Fear not, NO will play you a bit of Kylie, as I am becoming increasingly convinced they are doing it without permission the way she did the Brits without theirs. I think they'll keep doing it until her record company whone up and say "how dare you use miss Minimoog without our permission", JUST so they can say "well, now you mention it, have you seen the 2002 BPI awards?"

We already had the Happy Mondays pissing on their fine legacy and we don't need the Stone Roses to do it now....keep the legacy sweet (or bittersweet) but on no account must we let it now become SOUR!!!!
For the record: from the age of 12-15 all (and by that I mean )everything I listened to was the Stone Roses.
The 2nd coming has its moments too you know, but obviously that 1st album is way up there.
I kind of went into Ian Brown overkill around the time of Golden Greats.
I hear he plays Roses songs these days. Which Ones? Sally Cinamon was always my favourite.
New Order pre coldplay will suck. 40,000 pillocks waiting for that stain on humanity called Martin (a sub Bono, which is saying something) to play. Its going to be a real atmosphere killer, so we're all going to have to try extra hard to get it going.

Can somebody explain to me in simple words and short sentences what exactly is so great about Stone Roses? My friend and me found out it was named The Best British Album Ever by either Q, Mojo or Guardian and tried listening to it. It was a pleasantly dull experience and we couldn't remember anything off the album afterwards but "She Bangs The Drums". What is that genius thing that we somehow aren't getting?

I think the problem is with "classic" albums you have to have been around at the era it was big.I loved the Roses first album and its one of my favourites.But if i had been born after it came out and it wasnt of my generation i would be probably be indifferent to it.

Yep, that´s definitely true. The Roses first album reminds me of the blue skied summers of ´89 and 1990. I still swear to this day that they´d never have been as big if the weather hadn´t been so good. And what were we doing wearing flares the size of Staffordshire when the temperature was in the high 20s?????
