i've just been partying tonight, and i heard this awful trance version of this classic song so bad it was it made me go and get 'substance 1987' and try and educate the party people i was with , but to no evail........they thought ceremony was depressing, temptation (which i proclaim to be the best song ever!) rubbish, and blue monday (which i had to remind them started dance music in this country in a big way, and is still and always shall be the biggest selling 12" single of all time.....although i streched it to worldwide to add some dramatic effect!)a load of shit!

it pains me when idiots listen to shit and won't accept how great this band were and are now.

why won't the world listen to our crys!!!!

Despite the overkill of the song, for any casual listeners to call Blue Monday a piece of shit just shows you how much shit they have in their ears. Even my dad taps his toe to Blue Monday and he doesn't care for New ORDER.

Funny, I had a similar experience this past weekend. I was on a road trip with a few co-workers to attend another co-workers wedding, and since I was driving I of course threw in "best of New Order" while en route. Out of the four of us three of us really enjoyed it. By the third or fourth song however, my friend and co-worker blurted out "can we change the cd now?", followed by..."I'm really not a fan of this band" It surprised me, since I thought that the "best of..." would appeal to most people considering it is comprised of catchy familiar pop tunes. However he was adamant the he didn't like New Order.

After some drinking at the wedding reception (by the way they played BLT..and I went berzerk...since I had a few too many glasses of red) I asked my friend why he didn't like New Order. Funny enough, he stated that they were "too fey English" for him. It turns out he is Irish and very proud. I nevere knew the animosity ran through to musical taste. I also never thought New Order were typically "English" at least in terms of their music. Bernard doesnt't sing in an accent either.

We share many similar tastes in other music but New Order doesn't do it for him. Oh well...I thought that it was interesting.

You see, listening to New Order the first time, it isn't what u call impressive. I remeber first listening to a few of their tracks. I didn't think much at all of the songs. But after I while you really do get to found out the hidden qualities, and you just find out there's really something quite special about their music.

NO is pretty much all I listen to these days.

Story of my bloody life.

Used to go out with this bint who loved The Cure and Depeche mode, but would shriek and run away from New Order. Pretty sure I got dumped on account flingin a cure tape (mine) out the window, and replacing it with Ceasars palace Bradford.

I say in my profile that "I could never love a girl who didn't like New Order", well I must confess my GF hates their music, but she laughs her baps off at them, and think's they're the funniest, and REALest band she's ever seen. Good enough for me :) A lot of my mates have come to feel the same way, borrowing my video's and stuff, and fast forwarding all the songs...I'm not sure how to feel about that, except that, NO being NO, they'll catch a snippet of a tune, and it'll stick in their head and grow, possibly into a life long, life ruining obsession :)

Noel, you should stop hanging around with cunts.

End of. :thumb:

PS. The version of Ceremony on Substance IS shit, sadly, when directly compared to New Order's original.

this is very true, although to be fair to the idiots they're all polish/foriegn in general as it was a staff party and i work with alot of uncultured twats who still think the Bad album by michael jackson is the pinnicle of music, we had to listen to some stupid polish shit, so i kicked off about that and how shit it was.

Suggestion for a cross-over for New Order's next album...

Get Ready....to Polka! :evil4:

But I can relate to non-fans...I used to date/be engaged to one. :nonono: I remember when we first went out, I popped in Substance, and halfway through "Temptation" she asked "What the fuck is this?" Over the next few months, I did not play it around her very much, but one day I found her singing along w/ Barney on "True Faith"

Soon after, I began to play the other albums, esp. when I got WFTSC. Now she knows more of their songs ("True Faith, BLT, Krafty, and BM" ), but no longer does she roll her eyes when I blare something wicked off of Low Life. I think she might covertly dig some of the tunes.

And I am going to marry this possible New Order fan! :thumb:

I'm afraid the mainstream music fans in this country are a lost cause.

If you are hoping for change, we'll all have to wait for the day when the fossil fuels run out, our governments haven't been able to swindle enough taxes from the super-rich and the renewable energy generators are based in the current third world.

They will not have any preconceived western ideologies as to what quality music is, and will therefore judge music on its merits alone, not taking anything else into account.

But I hope your comment is not trying to slam trance music as a whole. Sure, 95% of trance music, like all dance music, like all music, is rubbish. But the best 5% is as great as ever. Just don't necessarily rely on the media to bring it to your attention - even BBC Radio 1's dance shows.

If you copy & paste the link above it will take you to my version of "Bizzare Love Triangle"... it's listed as "Everytime I Think of You" & is a ramshackle version that's both outta time & key, but for some reason, people seem to think it's one of my better tunes. Let me know what you think!

I doubt that they're friends but Barney and Stephen appeared on a Coldplay special on MTV this week. Various artists submitted questions to Coldplay regarding their new album.

I've skooled many on this NO phenomenon and im surprised at the amount of people say this one thing to me

"I remember this song...they did that???"

My last psychorella couldn't stop listening to WFTSC.

It was her only good quality other than great sex.

I'ma miss her...

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Most 80s-enamoured hipsters and trendsters dislike New Order because they didn't have a dweeby visual schtick.

Speaking of Bizarre Love Triangle...

I finally got Brotherhood today--my collection is complete! I must say, I have been missing out. Permission to flame me granted. In the meantime I will be rocking out to "All Day Long". :music:

Yeah, anytime you see a "Remeber the Eighties" thing anywhere, NO is nowhere to be found. Maybe that's why they still put out good albums (the same, alas, cannot be said for A Flock of Seagulls or Haircut 100 :nonono: )

I think the reason a lot of folks have a hard time with NO is because they don't really fit in any category. Play "Ceremony" anytime someone suggests they were techno; play "Bizarre Love Triangle" when they say they were mope-rockers. They don't fit in any one category, they straddle most of 'em. Again, the same cannot be said of A Flock of Seagulls or Haircut 100 (I just wanted an excuse to bash those poor bands twice in one post :evil4: )

I downloaded your song earlier today and i must say it's a cracking version of BLT, i really like it, well done mate. I noticed you have another four songs up on that site, what are they like?

Thanks man - They are rough 4 track demos, but I'm rehearsing a band at the moment & we're going into the studio once we get the set down. The other tunes are as good (in my opinion) - sure have a listen & let me know what you think! Cheers, Mike.
