Dracula's Castle

did someone request my brilliant opinion on this tread? everyone but DoN is wrong, DC is brilliant. Shug, you need to clean the Green sludge from you ears (those are the big floppy things haning off the side of your face, sometimes you use them to fly) and give in to DC. I still haven't heard a valid criticism of hte song. You whiners either say it's a crap title or it's got shit lyrics. The intro is spectacular and it sounds more like Technique than anything else they've done.

RECAP (AKA Cliffs Notes for NOOL skimmers): DoN and BLT are masters of everything while Shug and AJ, secret lovers away from the forums, share more than a love of butt-sex, they also love to hate good songs and are nearly always wrong. Take AJ's statement that Ceremony on Substance is shite. Well, i may prefer the 7" but to say the rerecorded version is shite is going a bit Over the Top, a reaction i know too much about.

And Drac's Castle is okay some times but not others. It sounds like something they left off Get Ready. Doesn't have any edge to it and lacks the sort of majestic touch that songs it would like to be actually have (e.g., Run, Dream Attack).

Dracula's castle is a pretty good song. Starts out with Hooky and the nice deep synth. The song is very well put together, has great Hooky lines and synth and guitar interludes, and Barney's vocals are even good, but imo there is nothing in particular in the song that strikes me to make me think it's a great song rather than just good.

Seeing as I started this thread, I thought I might make a closing point. Its probably a good idea to remember that there are a mix of people here both from the States and the UK, and musical tastes in Britain, believe it or not, differ quite a lot from those across the pond. This is probably why Brits have virtually no idea of who crap like "Matchbox Twenty" are, and why New Order are worshipped in the UK, but virtually ignored in the States.

The point I was making about Draculas Castle is that (dare I say it) it is more British in sound than tracks like Turn and WFTSC, which have a more American feel. And if there are so many Yanks on this forum, I can understand why they like these tracks so much. I just think Draculas Castle has the potential to have a slightly faster techno or house remix which would go down well in the UK charts. As for the American charts, well, New Order have never fared very well in that department anyway.

i think 'who's joe?' would be a good single, better than DC which is pretty piss poor, they should do what prefab sprout did with 'when love breaks down' and re release jet stream 5 tmes till the chart buying people love it and it gets to no.1..................

Why are some Yanks so defensive, its not like Im dissing your nation's bullshit foreign policy and arrogant President's nerve not to sign the Kyoto Treaty, despite being responsible for half of all the world's stinking pollution and climate change. I am not generalising, but it is a fact that some bands make it big in the United States and not in Britain, and vice versa. Quite why this is the case I really dont know, but it just is. And believe me, the difference between British music and continental European tastes is even more of a gaping chasm. They really dont half listen to some shite.

Anyway, in the end (according to the poll) "Draculas Castle" came out as a popular track, liked by both Yanks and Brits. But this is just a music discussion forum, not a snipe between the US and the UK, so please for God's sake chill out!! Both countries continue to produce great music. I still cant stand Matchbox Twenty though.

Oh and by the way, that goddam frog song is Swedish, and there is a national campaign over here to chop the little fucker's legs off.

well my favorite song on the album is guilt is a usless emotion, but i really do like dracula' castle too, and i like jetstream; i really dont care what song is the next single just as long as its not working overtime, i dont care for that one to much.

hmmm.. i fail to see the point of any DC detractor. the song's pretty damn great. the interaction between hooky's bass and the vocal is magic on the verses. the same can be said for phil's guitar on the chorus. and you can't beat the ending. this song has real drama and power imho.

I think Dracula's Castle is a gem of an album track I don't think it should be released as a single though.

Well it's all about different tastes isn't it? I would say Who's Joe is the best thing on the album (and better than anything on GR or Republic for that matter).....although I loved Ruined in a Day too, maybe it's the chimes.......
