Finally got WFTSC...

...and, in the words of the Maccy D's ads, I'm lovin' it! :D I don't get why some people here have been so down on it. Right now I'm listening to Guilt Is A Useless Emotion and bopping away at my comp. Definitely a contender for my album of the year.

Glad you like it. Having listened to it pretty much non stop since I got it in March I would say it's my 2nd favourite NO album after Technique. Loved it when I got it but felt that I might get sick of it after a while. Happily it's not happened so far!

So far this year it's been Doves and NO releasing albums. Next I'm looking forward to The Stills who are due to release one early Fall. Are they pretty popular up your way, Nic? What are your thoughts about the band?

One would like to see a somewhat more positive response to Turn, at least.

Considering that it's the best thing they've ever done.

I've only listened to it once, Patrick, so I can't really judge yet. I usually need to listen to an album about two or three times before I can start picking favourites.

I will say, though, that the very first time I heard Turn it blew me away.

I can't understand how any New Order fan could say WFTSC is a contender for album of the year... fooooookin hell, it's album of the year full stop! What other album could be better? There's no competition, and even if it's one of your least favourites from New Order, it's still better than anything being released this year...

A very special album indeed for long time NO fans like myself, I think they scored big with WFTSC and the very first time I heard it I was plesantly surprised how good it was- Guilt, Turn, WFTSC all were instant grabbers while the other songs grew on me in time. After the lifeless Get Ready album they really bounced back with a gem.

Get Ready lifeless? Apart from Vicious Streak which bores me senseless I think it's quite lively (Crystal is great).

Itallion ;) Half Dutch though. A quarter English at heart too. I really feel European, as a whole (I've loved every European country I've been to and think we can build something together), though I know it's so unfashionable nowadays. But that's just because the wrong kind of Europe is being made, the Europe of the capitalists destroying the social rights and not of the people. But one day things will hopefully change.

Good prospects for the united Europe indeed. I've never been to Italy, always wanted to see Florence and Venice. It's a little odd that you're from Italy on this forum, because as far as I see you're the only active poster from Italy and I guess New Order are not well-known there.

There are quite some members of the Community, but I'm the only one who can spend some time here. New Order have not many fans in Italy, there are more Joy Division-only fans. Basically, it's the post-goth indie audience, and the most of those buying albums by The Cure know who New Order are, but don't like them because they started doing dance music as well, while they love those couple of Joy Division album (and Movement maybe) because they perceive them as purer alternative music, unlike the corrupted pop of New Order. How narrow minded, I know. I'm ashamed to say I've been one of them too. But then I've discovered the magic of Blue Monday, Perfect Kiss and True Faith and everything changed. Anyway New Order have had moments of popularity, especially with True Faith. Get Ready and WFTSC have both been for a couple of weeks in the Top 40, and this is not a bad result for a band like New Order. There's also a small but very hardcore fanbase, but all those I've met are really fanatical, though not as much as me, they just don't have the time to follow the forum, though they lurk sometimes. ( lurkers)

Gee, those Italian NO maniacs would scary me too But I guess that's almost like everywhere in Europe (save for Germany, Holland and Sweden maybe). Nevertheless they are perfoming in Turin!
