The next single?

What does everyone think the next single will be or is it now a racing certainty that Guilt Is A Useless Emotion be the third off the album?

By the way, I was singing along with I Told You So the other day in the car and decided to try the chorus of Brutal over the end of it and it works really well! Sing the lines "And if you can't understand what gets you down..." etc over the chord sequence at the end and see what you think. I think the key and the tempo are similar for all my fellow musos out there.

Third single is to be 'Waiting For The Sirens' Call'. No word as to the 4th single, although there is meant to be one.

'Guilt Is A Useless Emotion' would be my choice, however.

We discussed that at length before... I would choose "Turn".

You did indeed.

WFTSC will be the next single. No plans for a 4th.

Sounds alright to me :) I love the album but I don't think a 4th single would make much sense for them, especially if we're getting another album fairly soon.

The title track has to be released though, as far as i'm concerned.

The title track and that's it.

Milk the fooking album at their peril.

You'd think they'd learned their lesson with the Jizzstream debacle.

Actually, Jetstream was supposed to be the 3rd single... so I'm not betting on anything from now on...

I read that they wanted WFTSC to be their hymn for the summer festivals.. so what now? it will be released in July/August, a little late no?

We been saying title track all along and I think it would be a smart decision and I think it would get some good radio play in the states.

I also think GIAUE would get some decent club play as well.

Turn is not strong enough to be released and God only knows why they released that piece of shit JETSTREAM.

How about we go for broke and release Working Overtime and then to seal the deal re-release rock a fukkin shack.

I failed anger management

You've just become my favorite person ever. Is it possible to agree with someone 1000%?

Well, WFTSC was planned to be released and we know Guilt is being remixed by Richard Morel in the US... so either way, they won't fail you !

Though I likely agree with you, Shug, about the strength of Turn, I would be more pleased if it wasn't released -either first, second, or third. I look at Turn as one of those hidden gems late on the album - kind of how I view Leave Me Alone on PCL and Dream Attack on Technique. Definitely single-worthy in my eyes, but I prefer it to remain a great song to "find" once you get the album.

I think WFTSC is a smart release, but it couldn't have been released right after Krafty because it's about the same damn song at the intro. But what would be wedged between Krafty and WFTSC at the No. 2 spot? I would have gone with MNAD - something that sounds quite a bit different than 1 and 3. Hell, the thing was played on CBS during a golf tournament of all things.

GIAUE should have been the second single; it's perfect club music, especially the MacQuayle mix of it. I Told You So would be another good choice. While Turn and WFTSC are good songs, I don't think they'd be good singles, similar to Dream Attack and Mr. Disco.

Not a fan of GIAUE, but I would have liked to have seen it used before Jetstream, for sure.

Whilst Turn is a great album track I too agree that it isn't quite single material, but if Jizzstream was foregone as the second single then Guilt could have possibly gone in its place.

Anyway Michael, since when was there ever a New Order album track called Aye? is that one of their working titles or summat?

I think WFTSC could result is some magnificent re-mixes....

A perfectly valid point compadre:nod: And it's rare that the 3rd single does anything in the charts. I love the GIAUE remix by Mac Quayle, that alone could be a single. I'd love to hear his interpretation of Turn, but personally, I think Turn, as it is already would be a great single.

As discussed in other forums, the Mac Quayle version isn't a remix - if anything, it's the 'original version' (or a work in progress, depending on how you see it). The album version of 'Guilt Is A Useless Emotion' was the next stage along, being remixed from the Mac Quayle version (or New Order's original demo perhaps).

Nevertheless, both versions are great, and in wildly differing ways. Would be nice to see an edited album mix as a 'Radio Mix', with the Mac Quayle version on the 12". One can dream...

Agree with you there. The Quayle version has ever-so-slightly warmed me up to the single version, though I still rank GIAUE #9 (ahead of WO and Petscream).
