Just downloaded it, will give it a listen tomorrow, when I won't be so loaded up on Benadryl.....![]()
That's all right ... don't all feel that you have to comment right away. Your approval isn't important to me. What? No, no, I just got something in my eye, that's all. Damn pollen. What was I saying? Oh, yeah, it's no big deal. Just, whenever you have a moment, if you feel like it, you might want to, you know, give a quick thumbs up or something, or thumbs down. I don't really pay attention to what people say about my music anyway. GODDAMN THIS POLLEN! Jesus, now everyone's gonna think I'm crying 'cause no one listened to my remix. Just a minute ... I'll be right back ...

Just finished listening. It's pretty good. One question: How'd you make it?? Cuz I'd like to remix some songs...
Excellent Mix....well done!![]()

gnice, gnu. you've done much to make this song listenable. i can't stand it on the album:dead:
Thanks, lads, for the encouraging words. It means a lot. That and the loads of money I make.
I do think I'll whip together a "7-inch edit" of 4 minutes or less -- it would be a smaller download for our dialup friends, and no sane person needs a full minute of intro (just sucka DJs who can't beat-match).
I would have loved to have done a big Hooky-centric mix, but there just isn't any raw material. I even thought of re-recording the bass line myself, but that would be sacreligious.
Oh, yeah, I got an email from Rich Morel, and he is indeed working up a GIAUE remix this week ... no guarantee of an official release, though.

Oh, I did plenty of that yesterday, Mr. Odor...

Very lovely, nice and clean, found myself concentrating on the nearly repetitive keyboard figure (I'd guesss) from the intro, a bit hypnotic so I missed it when it wasn't there, like when Ana was singing. Only quibble (very, very minor) was that the ending seemed a bit abrupt, but hey, it's still better than what I could've done. Well done sir.![]()
Downloaded last night.
First impressions were that Gnu must be a GAY Techno fan
It took me a couple of listens but I'll give you the thumbs up matey, it's nae bad at all. More BASS for yer next project;)
yeah liked it. nice and minimal. Particularly like the last couple of minutes or so when the guitars kick in.
Heres a suggestion - Why can't you do us a full-on death metal ragga-hop garage mix of this choon eh bud? I think its CRYING out for one. ![]()

Steve's working on that one, but he's late as usual.
Thanks Green Machine - the abrupt ending is the product of telling myself I had until Tuesday morning to finish up and get it posted before work. Tuesday is new release day in the States, after all. The keyboard thingie is actually the jingle jangle guitar part with all the high end shaved off.
I cherish Shug's erect thumb. As a straight man who not only doesn't go to clubs but is usually in bed asleep by 8 p.m., I'm glad I captured that certain je ne sais quois that make a young mans fancy turn to another man's fanny.
well done! better than the original, in fact.
my only criticism: it ends a bit abruptly, and sounds like it's been cut off. other than that, it's a cracking tune.![]()
after writing this, i see you've discussed the ending already....
Agent Wood likes my choon!

Damn, there's no "evil plan coming to fruition" handwringing smiley.

Thank you - I DID enjoy!
Why the hell couldn't they have phoned you to remix the track instead of the godawful crap on the CD single?
Nice one mate ![]()
Oh, and Shug has a 'fanny'???? Well Shug, looking forward more and more to meeting up at Hyde Park mate... ![]()
Keep it to yourself though - Tricia might get jealous... ![]()

my fanny's got cobwebs and is all moldy...
that's 'cause she's been dead since 1930. my great-grandmother, that is: fanny cooper campion.

it's ironic that you brought that up. my pussy slowed down a few months ago and lost its oomph. i thought maybe it had caught something. when it began straining on the toilet, i knew its time had come. life will never be the same without my furry little pussy. :(

Some cats are truely great friends. My last cat was almost like a dog. Actually she would go and attack dogs, but only when I told her to. Otherwise she was very timid and shy.
Actually I hope you were talking about your cat. ![]()
Very good work, man! It's very well done and really sounds professional.
Hey, did you do any remix for that Crystal Mix Contest? I'll check but it sounds like having heard something with this name "Shatterglass". I've heard/downloaded more than 350 remixes for that contest so it's not really easy to remember one.:D
What software did you use (you can answer privately at robertoaf*gmail.com). I was the guy with the "Soviet Club Mix" of Crystal. I also did the Soviet Mix of 586 that sometimes is seen on p2p sharing programs and also did some other unfinished remixes that didn't surface yet.
Because michael brown demanded it, I've posted a "seven-inch" edit for all the fine laideez out there. All the flavor, only 65 percent of the calories.
Very impressed. :) I havew dial-up so it took a good 20 minutes to download, but it was worth it. ![]()
This is brilliant (a) until the 'song' starts (b) sfter they stop singing. I think you should take it and 'Morel' it - just lose the frigging song - lovely how you've got Hooky's bit out so clean. Could you do this to Krafty? I think Krafty stands OK, but could do with a bit of your tlc to clean it up - and put Hooky where he belongs, up front. Hats off to you sir
Nicely done Gnu... a few random thoughts as I listen:
The intro takes a bit long to build for me. I totally dig the the squeaky portamento synth sound during the chorus. The change up in the drums during the second chorus is a nice touch and adds interest as does the flange on the snare during the intermezzo. It does end a bit abrubtly doesn't it?
Well done all around, but I have to deduct points since you fessed up to owning an FZ-1 and gave me a hard time about drums a few weeks back. :D
Thanks Bentley of the Golden Ears and everyone else for the comments. I'm still holding out for Spotnick (the Official Vote) and Mr. Campbell (the Right Bastard Vote) to see if I pass.
If you haven't already, check out the "7-inch" version, which whacks a couple minutes of thump thump thump and fades out the end.
Geek Notes (warning - geek content)
Remixed using Logic Pro 7.1 (which I have only because some guy mismarked the box when they were clearing out the discontinued Windows version ... $500 off, anyone?). I thought people would hate the squeal monosynth, which is Logic's ES1. The bass is the ES2, and the line is indeed cribbed from Ecstasy. I used all the Hooky I had, and actually had to ... gulp ... fix Hooky's timing, 'cause the last note stuck out like a, well, late note, especially when looped. Ouch. Oh yeah, and I bumped up the tempo from 120 to 125. Why Jestream? 'Cause I could get the tracks from u-myx.
Gnu Odor wrote: Why Jestream? 'Cause I could get the tracks from u-myx.
I like Jetstream remixes a lot better than the Krafty remixes for a comparison. I liked particularly Arthur Baker's mix, so I am not with that much motivation for starting a remix of it. I would love to have samples of other songs like Krafty and make a remix of it.
