Too Late

Another good song seemingly forgotten by some people

Like Let's Go in that its got a fantastic bass line but probably not very well known outside the real fans

Someone argued that Too Late was the prototype for 586.

Well it seems half the songs New order wrote in the Power corruption and lies period were somehow linked with a bass or synthesizer line -- Blue monday, Ultraviolence, 586 -- so it wouldnt surprise me although it didn't really strike me at first.

Really like Peter's bassline on this one, and its fun to play

I really like that song. I put it on my recent "Current Favorite New Order Mix" CD. I also really like that cover by Kein Zeichen Von L. I really think it should have been put on Community.

Thanks for the reminder. Listen to Too Late tonight and thought to myself "it's been too long since I listened to this." Great song.

Yup, the second (1982) Peel session to be exact. It's a stonking song and it's a shame they didn't pursue it further. The Peel Sessions CD and the Complete BBC CD are the only places it saw the light of day and there is only the one version of it. Did they ever play it or Turn The Heater On live?

That whole session is genius. isn;t turn the heater on a cover? been a long time since I had the actual album of the session

the 2nd Peel session was a strange one. An attempt to cover a reggae song, a song no one which popped up and then sank without trace, and then two songs which are arguably improvements on what went on Power corruption and lies--586 is a total revamp but sounds ace.

Right, i remember now (too many years dissapeared in alcohol )

Its just overall amazing what New Order were capable of doing in that early era of their evolution...they produced some of the most experimentally catchy beats ive ever heard. Ecstasy comes to mind immediately. But both Too Late and Turn the Heater On are top notch tracks. Weird how both were made so shortly after movement too, cuz the sound is so different.

Come on nothing is that great on those Peel Sessions. Having said that, the second Peel Session is much more interesting for the last four tracks. We All Stand sounds much better with the piano than the PC & L version. Overall, I'd say Too Late is my favourite track on the CD...

There might be some confusion - New order have done 3 Peel sessions, although one might think they did two because there are 2 BBC recordings discs. Just to clear up the Peel sessions...
