isn't it weird that new order never uses profanity or curses in their music but in interviews and concerts they curse allot. In the 120 or more songs that they have made in their career there is not one curse word in any of there albums, but watch their dvd's or read a article by them and you are guarenteed some f words.
NEW ORDER and PROFANITY

I live in America here and I'm glad that they don't use profanity in their songs, not because I'm prudish, but because if a CD has f words in it, in America, the CD gets that ugly "Parental Advisory" sign on it.![]()

I could say so why don't you piss off. Which does actually appear on record.
Live Barney used/uses quite a few colourful turns of phrase. Actually many of the older song lyrics were written with Barney just coming up with any old phrase often rude, as the songs were tried out live. They were later cleaned up for recording.
What the feck is this all about? ![]()
I like the occasional swear word live, it livens up what could be a simple rehashing of a studio track. Barney is a world-class "f-word" dropper ![]()
I'm not the one who needs to tell you just what the fook you want me to.
Oh it's the last fookin time

Ibiza, Minorca and Benedorm too, I searched all these places and never found a stupid cunt like you.
Bite my balls Wordsworth, Barney's in da house.
Save it for another day There's a school exam the twats have all run away...
We might be your black sheep But you fucked off a long time ago...
Oh you know what I fucking mean... YES YOU FUCKING DO...HUUURRRRGHHHH!

I never did buy the US version of Joy Divison's Still, but I do believe that has one of those "Parental Advisory" signs on it.
doesn't he also say "fuck you" instead of thank you at the end of oooh, errrr is it ceremony? It's somewhere.

You know you shouldn't do that.
Don't you know you'll stain the carpet?
There are bands that specifically write tracks to AVOID the parental advisory label - Linkin Park for one write their angry teen tracks without curse words, just copius veiled suicide references... however, I don't see New Order going out of their way.
Barney seems quite religious from some tracks, maybe its that?

Their musics OK, well, a few tracks are. Their fans are wankers, the band are wankers, their managment are wankers. Their videos are generally over produced, in a bad way.
I've seen them play. Was dragged kicking and screaming to a Metallica concert where they did support. They were playing up to the, oh, 10 people there to see them. Bought their second album off CDWOW after that - wouldn't be seen DEAD buying it in real life...
Their stage act is terrible. All this fake sincerity and 'sharing of emotions' - you can tell they're Californian.
(in case anyone didn't figure out, this is a rambling way of saying "yeah, pretty much")
I cannot believe you even went out and bought one of their sucky records!! They're so false. Always whingeing about their pants being too flappy or their wallet chains not being long enough or who spilt their fooking milkshakes and how it's oh SO not fair and how everybody sucks and they wanna die. Well go and jump off a fooking cliff in Yosemite National Park then. Chuffin' heck, Nu-metal (or even worse, rap-metal) is SO cack it hurts.

I have an extremely varied taste in music, and probably shift about a grand through CDWOW in a year.. it was only E9.99, and theres a few good tracks on it
The songs are all whines, they're about slightly more serious stuff - in fact, its numetal, they're ALWAYS about suicide...

Agreed....New Order have sworn plenty on studio albums, not just live. What's this thread about?Another example:At the end of Confusion(Which I think is an awful tune) on Substance, which was discussed here before, Barney says "Fuckin Housemartins"
with a snigger
Still don't know why he says it?![]()

Still don't know why he says it?
Read it all through again sonny - he DIDN'T say "Fuckin Housemartins"
He said "FUCKIN HELL (S) MARTIN!" - to Martin Moscrop who was probably in the studio with them with a few other "guests" banging on some lids (he plays in A Certain Ratio and is also a percussionist).
The audible (S) just happened to have come from another person's voice in the background (some sound distinctly like those of black musicians - Donald Johnson - again of ACR perhaps?) so when the two coincided in the mix it SOUNDED for all the world like the word "Housemartins".
