Anyone with an account at UKNova, get on over there and get your FREE, yes FREE slightlynarrow soundsystem sample ep....

thrill to sounds of Steve's attempts to play like hooky without sounding like him. Scream as you feel the bass vapourize your speakers Gasp as you wonder "why did I waste 40MB of bandwidth on these losers"

and those who grab it there, feel free to repost elsewhere, it's released as fuckyouriaaware.

If you like out cover of Heart and Soul on community....probably best avoiding theis then :)

Just remember we suck so bad cos we learned from the best. Difference is WE haven't sold out and started using backing tapes.

GODDAMNIT! First, the Jetstream digital release didn't happen. Now I learn I have to wait 24 hours to get my hands on this 'cause of the Nancy boys who run uknova. I WANT FREE MUSIC WHAT SUCKS NOW!

patience grasshopper, I forgot about things like that. Don't worry, we'll suck just as bad tomorrow....there's even a live track from a "rehearsal" at my GF's house that turned into a 60 body megaparty.

I'll post the .nfo to whet yer appetitie....

Greetings, and welcome to a short selction of tracks, some good, some bad, and many ugly, by "the slightlynarrow soundsystem". That's me, Steve Campbell, and my Cohort Richard Hayes, plus a few others and wnyone dumb enough to play on a record in Rich's box:) We're an electronic bunch, playing house, other dance styles, and non-dance electronic tunes. We are total believers in "keep machines live", and you'll see us in a grave before you'll find us doing a "gig" with a touchpad on a craptop. Lots of wires and smelly synths please....in fact we have not gigged in 5 years because we still dunno how to do it live with a PC. Here collected you will hear a small range of our tunes, it's a broad range tho, spanning early atari meanderings, and the very latest polished PC pieces.

So....the tracks....

any questions...want some more tracks?....want us to come ruin your party?...

information@slightlynarrow.co.uk

01-Daqari_morning_Steves_ambient_mix-01.mp3 (Hayes/Ward/Campbell) A gentle little remix of tune Rich did with our occasional member Keith Ward.

02-Leg-End-instrumental-02.mp3 (Campbell) A very New Order influence track with about 6 different basslines

03-Mookachacka_Whackachacka-01.mp3 (Hayes/Campbell/Ward/Harrison)
a groovy ambient piece, recorded with no sequencers, all straight to "tape"

04-Orgasn-premix-05.mp3
(Campbell)
One of my newer tunes....not been thru Rich's grinder yet.Sort of a house/techno track ish.

05-Daqari_morning_Steves_Club_mix-01.mp3 (Hayes/Ward/Campbell)
The more full on version of track one.

06-Transduction_Arpreggiator-premix-05.mp3 (Campbell)
Another one I'm still working on and haven't let Hayes have his wicked way with

07-YouandEye-03.mp3
(Hayes)
I'd love to remix this insanely hard, but not quick dance track, sadly repeated attempts to get it to run in my studio have lead mainly to violence.

08-Partyexperiment--Live-97.mp3 (Hayes/Campbell)
Recorded at a huge house party while shitfaced, it's not big, it's not clever, but for an 8 second loop on cubase, it makes a hell of a noise. Also features the slightlynarrow live trademarks of a movie soundtrack running at random in the bacground amd some good delay feedback solos.

09-The_World_According_To_Wrinklepost-(live-studio-detail)-98.mp3 (Campbell/Hayes/Pycroft)
A snippet of a crap recording of a very silly track we did, the main plan being a lot of incongrous samples and an attempt to create the worlds heaviest 808 noise.

Copyright notice.....
All works remain the property of the Slightlynarrow Soundsystem and it's performers. You may distribute these tunes at your will, give em to your mates, burn em , post em, torrent them....they are yours with the following limitations.....

You may not, make money from them. You may not pass them off as the work of anyone else. You MUST distribute this nfo or at least this notice with them.

these are slightly reduced quality versions, some tunes are just from awful sources. They aren't reduced so much because they are free versions so much as to encourage people to download them, and stop them being angry when they realise it's hateful shite. :)

It's only one more day...

Message from the tracker: Not authorized (22h) - READ THE FAQ!, (at Tue Jun 21 '05 @ 06:57:26 PM)

Only 22 hours now...

In the meantime, you could, um, check out my choonz (see "Even Newer Jetstream Remix"). No 24-hour wait there.

Already listened to it ( tho not loud enough), rather good I thought, certainly beats seven shades of shite outta the original, I must admit I aint sought out ANY of the official mixes....funny that I used to be an obsessive remix collector, with other bands, but when NO stopped putting the "we got really hammered and played with the knobs" mixes on the b-sides, I got bored. Only notice good ones (fire island, that deep house remix of selfish are two prime examples) when they appear in front of my nose.

Bit mangled just now (flying on vapour...actually, that was 2 days ago, I must just have fogotten to hit the ground, Douglas Adams style), so i'll pick yer brains when mine are sharp enough. But did you go external to u-myx?

BTW before formulating any gear questions about the above posted shite....remember that nearly each song has been made on a different rig....and ppl wonder why I'm in the trenches defending New Order for not playing the village (albeit my main defense is that it's hard and expensive and they're lazy and they're tight) (hmmmm tight....scroogelike...only other word I could think of was mean, and the def means angry and nasty over there)

most odd, it shows here as 2 seeds. My connection was slow as hell a wee while ago, but only for a short time. UKN tracker says 2 seeds too. I'm not firewalled (on the port I use for BT) so it doesn't matter even if you are.

I'm cursed I tell you. Besides it aint worth the bandwidth and hassle really :)

EDIT just noticed there IS a peer who isn;t connected, probaby you then :)

Funny you mention The Village. Was listening to it today in the motor thinking it wouldnt sound out of place on Low Life. Quite advanced for it's time, I reckon it was the last they wrote on PCL.

I'm pretty sure Barney is one hell of a tech-nerd on the quiet.

If for instance No DID launch into the village on Sat night, I suspect the headline would read......

"millions killed as fat irishman spontaneously transforms from matter into energy, 3 men and a boy from the North of England are helping police with their enquiries"

RIGHT For those having trouble (GNU, why does you machine hate mine so?), and for those who can't(/be bothered) with signing up at uknova..... Pop along to mininova.org and search for "slightlynarrow".

the lack of abuse in this thread scares me. Our audiences tend to divide 70/30 into terrified and unimpressed on the one hand and gobsmacked and lovin it on the other. Sadly we attract not sexy, scantily clad young ladies, usually we get hairy ugly socially disfunctionals (like attracts like) who can't understand where the music is coming from when Rich takes whatever he's been a-scratchin' and a-scrapin' with off the decks. (that is sadly 100% true).

Oddly enough, after a gig (you'll note, not too many live tracks here :) ) folk always say the same thing..... "Never heard anything like that in my life man"....the only thing that varies is whether they are grinning and want to buy us drinks, or very angry and expect us to buy THEM drinks.

PS, GNU, if you post another forlorn and deed lookin window, I WILL go into linux evangelism mode :)

LOL,out of about 6 ppl to download this, I've had one response, and the bugger loved it.

Maybe I should put together a live compilation, that should be scarey.
