To me, Hooky's tademark bass. He can play the bass like a guitar, that's distinguish a NO track from other bands.

I voted all of the above too. Although New Order doesn't need all of these ingredients, all of the time. For example, Hooky's bass is distinctive, and mostly an asset, but sometimes it seems forced into tracks which could do with out it (eg. I Told You So and Jetstream).
