Just got a phonecall from Al, Everything's Gone Green is BACK (I could hear the strains of "Is this the way that you want me to be" in the background!)

I fuckin hope they play it at T in the Park.

Setlist will be put on the Ceremony Forum in a bit:thumb:

Not really one of my favorite, but I'm happy to see that they have listened to us.

Now, where's Age of Consent? ;)

Curious to see what have been dropped to put this one on...

Sure they have. Has it ever occured to you that the fact they didn't play BM at Glasto had something to do with Diggy Mike??? :D

Damn it. Where have they been before with it? :evil4: Glad for you anyway :)

Problem is.. how the hell will you sell copies of WFTSC if you only play 2 songs out of it? :skeptic:

Nic, seriously, do you really think that sales are made by people who see NO at few festivals and then run to music stores for a CD? Besides if a person is new to NO, he/she hardly can tell whether they are playing "new" songs or old. Well maybe some of them do rush in to stores afterwards and buy... Substance

Bands that tour sell records. Simple band economics. That's why bands tour "in support of the new album." Bands tour, stations play the music, fans buy the records.

Substance is a little outdated though these days.

I know it's a great album, but there are tons of good material post 1987...

;)

To be honest, I enjoyed the show, but I got 4 WFTSC tracks... now it's only 2!

Well it's welcome back to the setlist of one old friend, so that's a good start. Thanx for starting to listen to your longer term fans again, guys.

Looks like the best setlist of the tour so far, from Hyde Park, Run Wild and Jetstream for KW1 and EGG I'll take those any day! Substance is a bit outdated but its still the best introduction anyone could have to New Order, and is still probably my most played album. Just wish it would be remastered, the difference on the tracks remastered for Best Of.. and Retro is huge, especially if you listen in on headphones.

But it didn't actually break until LWTUA.

They did the last five songs without it, and EGG was further up the list than that...

Quite short, from what I remember, and nothing particularly 'new' about it (you know, in the same way as they've ruined BLT, Toothache, Touched since the 80's). Brilliant to hear it again (my last time was Oxford 86, I think??)

So they didn`t segue it into Temptation then like they used to?:(

If they are going to play anything off WFTSC it should be GUILT IS A USELESS EMOTION... What is going on? Krafty is the second best track, WFTSC is in the bottom 25% of the new album's tracks and J-E-T... I have brainwashed myself into loving it, but I hold my tongue...

Why are they ignoring GUILT? WHY??

P.S. EGG and Temptation are like twin siblings (but not identical) I love them both (with ease) and it would be magnificent to see the two segue together live... :love2:

They're ignoring Guilt because, er, it's shit. WFTSC is the standout track on the album, imho, and the next single. QED: They play it.

Funny but we wait 18 years for Everything's Gone Green to reappear and then some cnuts start whinging cos they're not seguing into Temptation! Only on neworderline, eh?!!

  1. Guilt is 'shit'? What UFO have you alighted from? You may think WFTSC is 'better'; that's OK, but to call Guilt 'shit' is slighty plotless...

  2. And we're not 'whinging' 'cnuts' (gosh what a clever order of letters!) - it's just that EGG and Temptation are very snug bedfellows and it's a clever arty thing to give us a double burst of joy by melding them together.

Or could it be that you just attack anything I type for the sheer hell of it?:nono:

When the fcuk have I ever attacked anything you've said?! Other than the fact you repeatedly bang on about Dawn Z being 5th member of the band?! If you've said it once, you've said it 27,316 times, Craigy! But I've certainly never 'attacked' you over it!

Guilt is shit. I think it's down there with the weakest links on the album. They had the right idea with the Mac Quayle thing, at least that put a rocket up it, but they must prefer the limp-wristed album version which I, personally, think is just sub-PSBs-pap.

And I do geneuinely think people are whinging cnuts if they're gonna moan about EGG being played for the first time since the 80's just cos it's not melded in with Temptation. HAD they have melded it in with Temptation some clever arse would've moaned that they didn't throw 5-8-6 into the mix too. You knows it.

C'mon Jarvo...is it really SHIT??? :confused2:

But I do think you have a point...New order could play their entire frigging back catalogue, and somebody would still find something to piss and moan about...

probably that the set lasted TOO long!!!

FAC103 wrote: C'mon Jarvo...is it really SHIT???

Yes, it is.

Although the Mac Quayle thing is a corker.

But they obviously prefer the sh1te version, which is a shame, else why put it on the original WFTSC?!

Anyways, this thread was supposed to be about EGG, which is infinitely better than either version of Guilt. And still sounds good, even if they're not seguing it into Temptation any more. And even if Barney and Hooky have put on weight since the 80's. And got older (how dare they?). And Gillian's not there anymore. And you can't get pissed for under a tenner on a Saturday night nowadays. Etc, et cetera.

You spell cnut; CUNT! CUNT.

The melding was just a suggestion (not even by me; I just agreed that it's a cool idea).

If you really think GUILT is SHIT then half the back catalogue must upset you...

I think it's nice to have EGG back on the setlist, 'cos it's an oldie but goodie. And I think it's good not to have GIAUE on the setlist, 'cos it's one of their weakest tracks. Thank you! :shades:

Yup we're all entitled to our opinions; just a shame that some of us resort to calling others 'cunts' and that some of those same people resort to calling NO tracks 'shit'.

In the top 5 NO songs:

http://www.neworderonline.com/Forums/MessageList.aspx?ThreadID=21268

GUILT is nearly level pegging with WFTSC so don't feel bad, I reckon the fans are divided almost 50/50...

I know how to spell cunt, cnut. But I choose not to spell it the proper way cos it then sounds less harsh. I usually put cunter, cos that gets through another website I use regularly whereas both cunt and cnut are blocked.

And why would thinking that Guilt is SHIT mean I don't like half of New Order's back catalogue? What song have they done previously that sounds like Guilt?! Like I said, it sounds like an underpar PSBs track to me, and I ain't particularly enamoured with the PSBs. And, as I've already said, I think the Mac Quayle thing is a corker, and WFTSC would've been a much more beautiful beast had it included that version, instead of the original GIAUE, and perhaps the Richard X crack at Jetstream over the one we originally get.

And here I am now talking about Jetstream when this thread was supposedly dedicated to the first play of EGG for nigh on 18 years. What joy.

EGG's definitely in my all time NO top ten, very happy indeed that it's made its way back to the setlist. Even having the knowledge that it'd been on the short list of songs for the tour, hearing it live would've been a big thrill. Figured that it wouldn't get an airing in the US, still glad that you, amongst others, got to hear it Mr. Jarvis.

what a fantastic set list. EGG isn't in my top 10 but i'd love to hear it live, much more so than run wild, jetstream, or even blue monday (which i know will never happen!).

although i don't like jetstream i do wonder why they took it off the setlist, considering it was their last single?

and for the record, guilt is a cracking song! but perhaps it's better suited for the dancefloor than the concert stage....

It's a matter of opinion as to what sounds like Guilt. They've done loads of dance orientated tracks in the past; Guilt is yet another.

EGG is one of those many NO tracks that unite fans who like rock/indie and dance/pop.

Personally I love both aspects of NOrder and I'm happy EGG is back. Never thought I'd hear someone favour JET over Guilt though...:evil4:

I prefer the Richard X mix of J-E-T to the WFTSC version of Guilt, but I think the Mac Quayle thing wins hands-down all round.

But then I love the original BLT and hate the pap they throw up on stage these days. Ditto True Faith.

I don't think you can say I shouldn't like half of New Order's catalogue just cos I don't like one other 'dance' track they've done.

Horses for courses.
