I know NO are not in any way a fashion band thank god, but what are people's thoughts on their, ahem, unique dress sense? What are your best/worst NO fashion moments? My very favourite are bernard's shorts on the confusion promo, there's something kind of sebastian flyte goes to The Tunnel about them which is just too good to be true. Worst also goes to bernard for the horrible thing he is doing with his trainers at the moment. Special mention for Gillian's make-up through out the entire 80's- she looks so cool in the TPK video. Hmm I hope other people spend their time pondering useless things like this too.

I like Stephen's weird T-Shirts...

I like Bernard in Adidas and that Confusion outfit you're talking about, I absolutely hate it! :D

Don't understand the [ahem] bit here, Lucy Anna? Where are you from?! Check out all the promotional pics - four blokes in jeans, trainers, Adidas and Stone Island. They could be ANY four British blokes the way they dress. ANY four British blokes with a bit of money, obviously, as you pay through the nose for them SI coats. Nothing unique about them whatsoever I'd have said. Just dress like half the posters here if I'm being honest. And they always have done.

they could dress in jeans and trainers or they could dress like bootsy collins, whatever tickles their fancy.

but i did think that barney's confusion-era tube socks, shorts, and collared shirt ensemble was absolutely darling. :D

Could they though, if New Order had dressed like Bootsy Collins or - god forbid - Depish Mode or summat (lipstick and skirts), then I wouldn't have seen me taken to them quite as much.

In the words of the great lord Tarby23, I would've been 'embarrassed' by them.

May I advertise my "Mr. New Order" poll here?

Poll

Stephen leads (  ) 9:8 in front of Barney... So if anyone still hasn't voted yet please do... :D

hadn't seen that one before; been laughing over those pictures for a good five minutes. Only 26 votes? Are there not too many ladies on this forum then?

I really dislike all the recent addidas gear. Most of got some free shag. Pretty soon they're look like KORN.

Can somebody please point me to pics of the tube sock era?

I personally like when Barney started wearing really baggy jeans.

Bernard wins the award for Skinniest Tie in Existence in the LWTUA video. The same tie he's adorned in on the poster I have here- you know, the one where they're all leaning against a corroding fence and Barney is looking across Ian and Hooky to gaze longingly at Steve? :D

I like the way Bernard looks in RAGE Thieves Like Us performance. Looks pretty smart there.

hooky's long coat is pretty cool in my opinion

Tell you the truth, I never associated NO as being very fashion conscious. They seem too modest and didn't really care about big hairdo's or the trendy outfits as was the case in the eighties era; the only signature look was Bernard's mod hairstyle. I guess since they're in a band they have to at least have some smigeon of fashion.

Go and check the audio/video section PLEASE???? Barney is thanking Adidas and Levi's for their support and sponsorship during nme's godlike genius awards. I'm sure that New Order got no need for support etc. etc. but thats the way it is. Now tell me -which is the coolest adidas trainers this period of time? superstar ofcourse!- so where is the problem with his trainers anyway? By the way i love Steve's t-shirts. I'M A DEAF one that is wearing in finsbury park is awsome! Check also pictures from Hooky's djing tour. Paul Smith's classic striping shirt that was wearing in thessaloniki-greece is so cool!!!

I really like the spiky hair cut with blonde highlights that Barney had in the 80s.

Also, I think Barney dresses pretty nicely sometimes. A lot of mid to late 80s pics show him in either nice Fred Perry shirt or crisp button up dress shirts with nice jeans.

He also looked pretty nice at the Chicago show, just a black long sleeved shirt and jeans.

Gillian has had some nice hair cuts and simple out fits over the years.

I always liked Hookys biker look.

Steve looked pretty stylish in the Perfect Kiss video.

They arent overly stylish, but New Order, especially Barney, do seem to have a thing for simple but tasteful and sometimes elegant (Hokky looked really nice at Reading 98) clothing.

hmm its not so much the trainers in themselves, as the way he wears them. All clean and white and...prominent maybe I'm paying too much attention to bernard's feet

I cant belive nobody mentioned Hooky's leather trousers. He looked silly, and clashed with the rest of the band's low-key style.

Actually it was at the Dance Music Awards in Germany.

Adidas is german, isn't it? So you got your answer there ;) he was probably taking a piss or passing a message ;)

Are you Jeff Banks, the fashion waffler? You could get the Royal Ascot gig on that showing mate...I've always liked the Fred Perry T-shirts Adidas trainers look myself..If these guys looked like, god forbid The Cure I would'nt of bothered with them probably, shallow I know, but I'm safe in the knowledge that New Order did'nt have to go all out pushing image. It was all about the music,a concept almost lost nowadays, but I admitt it would have mattered to me,and I would'nt have fell in love with New Order's music if they were make-up girly Marilyn Manson types to look at..very offputting to me,and thats image affecting me,when I always say image should'nt matter in music  so image does matter whethr it should or not..Bit of a bastard like:\ohwell:
