"I was in Virgin Megastores today, and they were playing Slowjam. They then said this would be the next single, a nice idea I think, a guitarry song on the radio, and dancy song in the clubs at the same time, neat balance."

Please no, no more singles. All i want is new songs!!! Like it aint ever gonna stop, having to buy all these mixes of mixes of mixes done by another mixer. This is too much for me...
Hold on there, fellas.
Crystal has been the only single released in the U.S. so far, and that was backed by an album's-worth of remixes (and one non-album track). We're still waiting for single no. 2.
Also, Get Ready went nowhere here on the pop charts, but found a nice spot near the top of the electronic charts (despite the fact that it's hardly electronic music).
I wonder what would go on the B-side, since Slow Jam is way too slow jam for the dance remix market, which is where the record label seems to think New Order belongs.
Of course, if they want to send me the tapes, I'll do an incredible remix of Slow Jam that everyone in the world...even New Order fans...will love. ;)
Enough rambling...give us U.S. fans anything for the next single...please?
If this is true then it's the final proof that bands don't have a clue about choosing singles. I don't know ANY NO fan who would choose Slow Jam as a single, let alone before Primitive Notion, Turn My Way or Vicious Streak. Oh well, lets hope there's some new stuff on the B-side.

About singles from "Get Ready"
Short comment: I think, 4 singles are too much of it, I hope the b-side is previously unreleased material.

I like Slow Jam - as many of you already know - but as fer it being a single - I must say that surprises even me;)

The general public's tastes are so different from my own that a song like Slow Jam (that i cannot stand to hear for more than 5secs) would be gobbled up by the millions. Whatever it takes to get them in the states this spring and back in the studio next fall. Maybe they should include the new Evening Session tracks/Peel Session Tracks as b-sides.

Hey, let's first wait and see if Slow Jam really will be next single?!
Like the song though, but as a single? dunno...
And as I said before: the more remixes the better, yeah! (and hopefully some new/unknown songs as 'b'-side).

i don't think it's 100% the bands job to choose a single. Blame the f****** A&R's and product managers whose only daytime job is to sit in front of their Excel-sheets controlling how much singles/albums are sold. If NewOrder were still on Factory Records even the choice for the second single would've been different... :evil2:

Well, when "Crystal", "60 mph" and "Someone like you" has been as singles from "Get Ready", then it seems like another single will be a fourth one
It would be interesting to know which single New Order (and not the record company) would have decide as the next single, I'll guess they would have made a better choice than "Slow Jam".

So, here's a quick quiz for you music industry types.
After about five seconds of research at billboard.com, I found that, despite Get Ready being absent from the Top 100, the Crystal single landed at number three on the year-end HOT DANCE MAXI-SINGLES SALES chart. Number 3...beating out Madonna, Janet Jackson, Daft Punk and Depeche Mode. With very little airplay that I heard.
So, why bother putting out a follow-up single in the U.S., even though you already have remixes up the wazoo, artwork, etc. ?
Please, losers...how about releasing a CD of Someone Like You remixes over here?
I'd have personally chosen CLOSE-RANGE as its one of the albums stronger tracks.
my hopes were raised when they performed it on the evening session Radio1 (but then again they also performed slow wank and rts)
