I was just reading an academic article in some book about trash aesthetics and it quoted a website as saying that many rock musicians, includeing New Order, were huge fans of the Tank Girl comic and wanted to get involved in the comic somehow. Anyone know about this? (I wonder if Steve's tank obsession is behind it.)

Barney resembled the cast of Tank Girl around 1986, as exampled in the State of the Nation video.
Probably completely irrelevant info, but Jamie Hewlett (Tank Girl creator) is one of the Gorillaz now, and does all the animation for their vids.
The Tank Girl movie soundtrack may have been NO's opportunity to contribute summat, but they, erm, didn't. Instead, the soundtrack had Graheme Massey, Bjork, Belly and others on it (the film came out during No's hiatus in 95-ish).
Pretty crap film in retrospect, but the graphic novels were OK.
