Its Rob for me - i loved that he always seemed to have the final say on everything - so much of the 'misteque' & direction of the band came from him
Funny thread. I never knew that Andy Robinson and Rebecca Boulton were the same person either.

Hes in the band since gillian had to leave because of personal reasons.
Peter Saville, because he is another artist. Not even a musician, he's a designer and it's great the two forms of art matched so well. With Saville you don't have to judge his contributions in music or in management, you just have this great design associated with this great music. then, many reasons to mention others as well... no Tony no Factory, no Rob no 1998 reunion etc.
rob gretton. he seemed like an interesting man: half kind, loyal mate; half put-a-boot-in-yer-face nutter. ![]()
Peter Saville for me. Took the aural musings of the band and turned them into physical texture for the covers. Really made it more about the whole package. I like that bit on NO Story where he talks about this mass marketing secret. He pulled it off. I remember back in the day, walking into the local Virgin Megastore or HMV and I was immediately drawn to anything Factory, you just knew.....![]()

Yeah i know!
i know he gets slagged off but tony wilson for me. he got a lot of bands showcased on t.v. like pistols, banshees, and of course j.d. and new order. another that brought them to attention of the public was of course my hero- john peel
Wilson's always so personable when you meet him, makes you feel right at home. Would love to have had a beer with Gretton but never knew him, so obviously went for Andy Rob here cos, personally, he's done us a few favours over recent years. A top man. Can't say fairer than that.
Tony Wilson, i could listen to him talk all day, he is out of his mind and a very entertaining Twat. gretton is a close 2nd
I only met 2 of those people... and they are both on the same option! ![]()
Of course, it would be easy to say Tony Wilson due to 24 Hour Party People, but is he really the way he's portrayed in that? ![]()
Andy is quite a nice guy, so he got my vote ;) Just noticed there is a picture of a younger him in the Retro book...
i voted paul morley simply for the reason he annoys me, when ever you see him in an interview he comes across as a smug bastard....the second twat behind tony wilson
I say it's our Tone.
Despite all his flaws, he was the key to unlocking many of the doors in the new order story.
He's also scorched into my subconciousness for presenting 'Granada Reports' to me over all my childhood years...

Much much worse, or is that better?![]()

and I ain't normally into that kind of stuff!!!
"What you into? Yer into Gay Disco, that's what yer into" Rob to Barney APB 1988
Rob Gretton! The man was a fookin dude!
