More Bands Jump on the New order bandwagon!

I recently recieved an E-mail from the autrallian band Powderfinger. their Lead gutiarist has a side project called 'Drag' and these guys have released their debut album last week.

anyway on the e-mail it counted New order as one of their biggest influences of there sound, yet another band to add to the list of wannabe cool cats including The Order as one of there influences......bit like the time Simon LeBon said He was heavily influneced by Joy Division on the Jo Whiley Tv show......Did he ever sit back and listen to the poptastic shit Duran Duran put out?

i never said there was anything wrong with it.

As long as they're not influenced the same way Simon was by JD, it should be fine.

i dont hear anyone calling a "depeche mode bandwagon" or a "cure bandwagon" (especially last year, when there was literally a cure bandwagon in the form of curiosa) etc etc.

Back to topic: There is nothing wrong with citing NO as an influence, as long as you get good music from that band. If they end up sounding like A Flock of Seagulls that one night on "Hit Me Baby One More Time", then disavow any knowledge of that group immediately

Duran Duran made some great music in the early years, it was their boy band imagery that ruined their art. Still, the first album is very good and I wouldn't be surprised if songs like Anyone Out There would have actually been influenced by Joy Division, though I hear more Berlin Bowie + Eno and Ultravox...

If they do sound like new order. That means their album would be worth buying.

Nah. Bloc Party just sounds like complete nonsense. I hate his voice with a passion. Why the NME calls them the most intelligent bad around i'll never know. Why people like them, i'll never know either.

I know JG likes them though. Christ knows why.

If you want to hear some good bands that sound like neworder, than check out. Apartment, White Rose Movement, Battle, and The Editoes. They are great bands, so check them out. By the way, if a band want to give credit to neworder for the type of music they play, then I think that's great. Because that means they actually know good music in the first place.

The Editors do not sound like New Order...Joy Divison Yes, New Order no... but thty are great all the same. as i said before i'm not saying theres anything wrong with these bands hailing New Order as an influence if anything it turns more people onto this great band and gives the Order more limelight... which they deserve.
