I can't remember the actual name of the happy-go-lucky tune which soundtracked the show's intro, but a more aggressive, reworked version can be found on the US import of Monaco's Music for pleasure CD, track 10 "Under The Stars". The lyrics are pretty barbed towards Ms Aherne with couplets like "Now I'm all alone with you, oh yes that's why I'm so alone and blue, I feel like dyin', I feel like dyin'" all to an angrier, rockier version of the Mrs Merton theme tune. Unsurprisingly, it was left off the UK version of MFP.
Any Mp3's want to find their way into my email inbox,I would much appreciate:D I have Music for pleasure.. so I don't want to have to arse around getting the American import,if I can help it...
It's an old Revenge song called 'Born To Kill' and was one of my fave live tracks along with Soul (circa 92). The Monaco version 'Under the Stars' has a slightly reworked lead bass line.
There was also a CD called "The Best Of The Mrs Merton Show" on BBC, which featured the title track in amongst the edited shows, as well as cover versions of other tracks (e.g. "Simply The Best" for the George Best interview, etc) by Hooky And The Boys.
It shouldn't be that difficult to find... In fact there's one on ebay finishing in about 2 and a half hours....
