What is the worst edit of a NO track?

My biggest hate is the awful True Faith remix edit tripe on the TF CDV!

the version of 1963 on "The Best of New Order" is a disgrace. If i remember rightly, it fades out and completely misses out the final verse (or even more) from the original version. Ludicrous! It's much the same as screening "The Godfather" on television and cutting out the last half-hour altogether. What daftie was responsible for that edit?

Anything called 'radio edit' tends to be a waste of space.

But the original problem edit has to be the album version of TPK - cutting out all that's best about the track

Crystal (Video Mix)

Jetstream, the single edit. The great guitar bit gets sung over by that Ana Matronic bitch going "Can you wait for meeee?" As if she hadn't ruined the song already! Then the piano/base intro is removed, and all the electronic bleeps and effects. That, and the song ends appallingly... What was wrong with the plane engine whoosh?

i agree. it's crap.

TPK edited is pretty bad, but has anyone noticed that the edited version of Fine time is also pretty mediocre? The extra stuff on the album makes it better.

TPK on Low-Life. You can hear the "W" of the first word of the last verse right as the track is sliced. Nonprofessional edit.

I totally agree with perfect kiss and although i hated this version of 1963 when it came out it dosen't seem quite so bad now.

For me these two edits are just so clumsy. They dont flow at all.

Yeah, under no circumstances should that have killed the intro. Should have just used a video that fitted better.

Including the Phones reality one?! Sorry, but in my opinion that is the worst remix, nay, track of all time. Forget Crazy Frog, forget To Kill A Queen, this can cause suicide.

And come on lads, let's leave TPK alone, shall we? The fact that it's an edit on one of NO's best songs has to egt it some respect, I know it's not that great.

perhaps you're right. that one and the pump panel reconstruction mix of confusion are good--but they're overshadowed by the rest, unfortunately.:(

I do like the bit in the radio edit where Hooky`s bass accompanies the chimy bit as opposed to the album version where they follow each other.

I'd agree up to a point.Especially my favourite BLT being reduced to something that bears no recognition to it whatsoever. Though I do like the TOUCHED BY THE HAND OF GOD Remix,which borrows the choral synth of BM.And I might be alone in this but I do like the BM Hardfloor Mix.

It's pretty much a given that the Perfect Kiss album edit is godawful,comments about the Armand Van Helden mix of BLT are spot on,& the Sub-culture 12" is so shite it makes State Of The Nation sound pretty inspired(although it's certainly not the best NO song in all eternity either).

I've always really disliked the 12" of BLT...the album version is perfect (one of my fav NO tracks), I just never liked the way they messed with the song's elements on the 12". The best NO 12"s are the ones that feel as though they contain the definitive version of the song and the 7" just feels like an edit, (eg. Shellshock, Perfect Kiss, TBTHOG). And the 12" of Subculture is too far removed from the best version, which I think is on Low Life. The 12" sounds weak and disjointed in comparison, and the vocals (Bernard???) don't sound right to me!

Oh yeah, I agree, the album version of The Perfect Kiss is just awful, I've never liked it! That intro ruins it for me...why oh why didn't they just use the 12" version. It couldn't have been through lack of space as the album's only 40 minutes long! Any reissue should have the full TPK and the full Elegia
