Tenuous link. I saw (the) Doves play in Adelaide last night. They were awesome. Much much better than Interpol who played in town the other night. But that's another story.

The DJ was playing some UK / Manc tunes before they came on. The song they came on stage to was 'These Days'. Brilliant!! I was wearing my True Faith T-shirt and was in heaven. Actually I was. The club is called 'Heaven' ;)

There were quite a few Mancunians in the crowd sporting flags etc. Jimi gave them a bit of shit about it, it was very funny. One obnoxious guy was calling his mate in the UK during the show saying how "Fookin brilliant" it was. Tool!

Sorry for the rant but I had to share it with someone. :D

Seen them this year at the apollo, the ritz, Glasto, and when they supported Oasis and Coldplay. Brilliant.

I'm not really half the gig goer you seem to be but I saw Doves twice at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. First in 2002 as part of T On The Fringe, and second this year as the first date of the "Some Cities" tour (the album came out the day before). Both great nights but they were slightly stronger on the 2002 date. This year's one was by no means a bad 'un and I was pleased to hear they'd dusted off 'Darker' but my brother was well pissed off they didn't play Catch The Sun :laugh:

Genuinely nice blokes, and they're not trying to change the world or give finger wagging lectures to the public about poverty/fair trade like those wankers Chris Martin and Bono. They just play their fucking great music and keep themselves to themselves at the end of the day Had a chance to meet them outside that first Edinburgh gig and they signed my Pounding DVD single :D Quality.

I like the Doves but the new album bored the socks off me,unlike the previous 2,not including Sub Sub who I did ney care for much....

ally-i cant understand either why they dropped catch the sun.i saw them at blackpool after our works xmas party and was shouting my head off at encore for catch the sun,drunk as a mop

uncle liam-ive seen them 8 times in 6 years but sounds like you'll be catching me up in the space of a year after v-festival :laugh: :laugh: :clap:

Yep. V fest will be my 8th. 5 times this year, caught them in belfast a couple of years ago and the Rob Gretton Gig last year.

doves drummer is ace,he gets so into it.at the signing tent at t'int park he called me over because he spotted my new order t-shirt,he said he's into them so that also makes him a top man.he was also cracking up about the badge.think he was after one :laugh:

yeah, don't listen to them 'cos they come from Wilmslow. just listen to music made by Salford residents only. It's the only 'real' music.

I don't hear New Order writing about Alderley Edge much (very posh and home to half the band)

DOVES!! "Pounding" is an alltime anthem which is never off a jukebox if I've go loose change.Plus they've done a quite reasonable collaboration as SUB SUB with Barney with "This Time I'm Not Wrong"

Who's better, Foo fighters are miles better live.probably the best band i've seen live by a long shot.

I've listened to Last Broadcast this afternoon and i just can't get into them i just loose interest after about track 3 then it picks up again for pounding and thats about it. i really don't know what all the fuss is about i'm afraid.

They are one of those bands that are better live than on record. They are tight and raw live and one of the few bands I would travel to see. :nod:
