(getting a sudden creeping feeling the win32 client may differ from mine)....

tools menu>statistics> then click on the Activity tab. Easiest way to limit is just to right click the up or download limits in the bottom right hand corner.

Note, I have seen some weird shit if you use the download limiter....once I set it quite low on a busy torrent....about an hour later the machine started swapping something HUGE around and being very odd. I noticed that azureus was now using 92% of my physical ram ( I really need to sit my penguin down and discuss what consitutes a system critical process and what consitutes something that can be swapped out....I'm fond of things like the desktop being in ram :)....anyway it only did this once). I also noticed my connection was still just as activee as before I'd limited it.I had a thought and set the download limiter back to unlimited.....WHAM!!! my download speed went to like 12MB/sec. Seems azurues far from sending choke packets back to peers to reduce download speeds, was just pretending, and all the time GULPLING data down and shoving it into a disk buffer like a bloody squirell with his cheeks full of berries.

Anyway, watch out for it.

And TRY to open the ports it wants....you can still connect, with them closed, but not to any other user who also has them closed.

since my client has uploaded now almost 6 gb, I hope somebody out there finished it.

I still don't know all the vocabulary of bittorrent, but I see 0 seed and 31 peers.

I have boosted by upload speed to 50 kbps and so far so good, my internet connection didn't die on me since. :thumb:

Next one will be the Carhaix DVD, I have 2 of them, if they are not similar...

I would like to see some reviews - and you must call the last song World In Fucking Motion.....or more projects like this will not be forthcoming

Yeah I've downloaded it; really I can't express my gratitude enough for this project. Thanks Shug and all concerned.

My only beef, and this is going to sound really petty, is that it's not all in widescreen. Does not spoil the enjoyment much but just a point to note.

Yeah I've got it; I'll leave it seeding hopefully that'll help the speed for others. Just one point: Nero bitched at me that the VTS_01_0.BUP is not present on the download. Not something which is really needed but thought worth mentioning.

Question about download speeds what is the average download speed? Because I'm averaging only 4 kb/s to 12 kb/s downloading speed. It says 2 days if I'm lucky but I seen it go as long as 12 days. My upload gets to 29 kb/s but download is at 10kb/s at the moment? So my question is, is this normal? I moved my upload speed to only 6 kb/s and it makes no difference, my download wont improve? Do people have there upload turned on? Or are people taking advantage and not sharring? If it doesnt impove by tomorrow and turning my upload down to the lowwest setting of 4kb/s unless somebody can explain to me why It's so low? I seen it go as high as 25 kb/s so I know it can?

maybe you turned it down TOO far, sometimes what comes down is very closely related to what goes up. I prolly shoulda said "highest value that gives a flat line, or 1-2k under that".

FWIW, I'm only getting the same down speed as you. Odd since I assume one of the seeds is still NOOL. C'mon seeders, get sharin :)

You're right, this file is missing as well, one of the 2 files my DVD-Rom is unable to read, although they read fine on my wife's computer.

What's this file anyways? I'll post it up for people if it's something important...

I knew they were summat to do with indexing titles, but I checked before raving. Turns out they are just a backup copy of the .IFO . That would explain some players, the gung-ho ones, playing it, and other severely anal players are balking on it for no good reason.

Suppose the easiest answer is just to make a copy of the relevent IFO and rename it accordingly. BUT, do check a couple of real dvds to check the 2 are always the same before doing it. ( not that you'll cause any trouble if it's wrong, unless you waste a disc.)

Always try to play DVD's off the HD first, saves making a coaster. I did mention the use of alcohol or demontools to mount a dvd iso to create a virtual dvd player.....but in windows I am afraid I cannot tell you how to convince a mendia player that a certain directory IS a DVD....although I know SOME players will play vobs.....it's not the same as emulating the disc. for me it's just mplayer dvd://oi/this/folder/here

most windows programs DO accept commandline parameters, they just pretend they're all high and mighty, but I really doubt the same approach would work.

I did this with the files downloaded via bittorrent and Nero stopped complaining and the DVD plays fine on my PC and DVD player. So think that solves it. Thanks for the tip.

Y'know, apart from the end of Regret, I don't think I need to be downloading this. It only just o0ccurred to me that's it's basically the TV footage I have, albeit stuck together right.

Don't think I'll bother with the rest of it. But I'll seed the little I have for a while for the good of all.

BTW, I wonder about posting full DVD's.....is it STILL that hard to make one in windows that a .avi would ruin everyone's day? I assume that's the reason for this (and most of the other full dvd's one sees online), I know that before I learned the mysteries of transcode in Linux that handling mpeg-avi-mpeg-dvd type transfers was a real pain and very hit and miss, especially since have the apps available are snake oil. I just thought it had improved a lot....mainly cos mates have stopped ringing me to ask how to do it (of course maybe they're just sick of hearing the answer "go to www.gentoo.org and click on download....." :D ) It's not even like you can zip a DVD cos a lossless compression like zip or rar is not going to squeeze any more out of it than the lossy mpeg compression already got.

thanks to shugs and spotnik for putting this dvd up for download.using bittorent is a great idea and fits with the ethics of this site for sharing(thats my opinion obviously).if there are to be more files to be uploaded with bittorent could they be compressed with a program called "RAT DVD".You can download it from www.videohelp.com. This briliant program will shrink a dvd down to less than 1 gig if needed ,it keeps all the menus and isplayed on windows media player. It will also allow the file to be burned to a proper dvd with nero etc...plus this will save spotnik,s bandwidth as he will only have to upload a smaller file..and we all will download a smaller file....thanx again.....phil

Thank you very much for sharing this! Ugh, even with a cable modem I still have 22 hours remaining... Oh well. It's a small price to pay to be able to see this!

I've already got this, but I do have a fast broadband connection. So, I'll download it too and keep the connection open. Hpefully, that will make downloads faster for others.

If I'm wrong, please let me know!

Torrents are a little bit tricky to understand in the beginning. I use Azureus, an excellent client and they have some good documentation on their site.

The #1 think you want to do is to make sure that you firewall and router (if you have them) are setup for port forwarding on port 6881. With Azuerus you can check to see if your setup if properly config'd.

Then you want to configure the speeds. I have 512kb (up and download) ADSL, so I set my max download to unlimited (i.e., ~55kB) and my upload to about 10-15kB below max (i.e., 40kB). The higher your upload, the higher your download - often. Though you want to look at the average and not instantaneous values. The speeds can change quite a bit.

Now, if you've downloaded 60% of the torrent and your Share Ratio is at 3.0, then you have some config-problem... ;)

looks like its is working. Azureus is telling me 0 seed and 5 peers.

Does that make me the only seed ?

Up speed is about 12.2

Good luck.

Spotnick wrote: Please be patient if this doesn't work, it's my first creation of a torrent, I downloaded several files using it, but sending some is a little different.

I have installed a tracker on NOOL's server, and I have high hopes I'm set ok to share, so please let me know if it works, and it's share this the easiest way.

If it works, it can open the door to more...
