Download Shug's Glastonbury DVD via Bittorrent

well, this is a great idea nic, however, hosting a tracker could put you in deep trouble with the powers that be. what about using a public tracker like "the pirate bay"?

still, I'm not complaining, this could be a good way of sharing music and video between fans, are you going to allow us to use the tracker for posting new order related torrents on here? and if so, what are the boundaries (nothing thats availible commercially is allowed?!?!)

I don't get higher than 35kb/s (1 day and 7 hours loading time )

I can't download it because I can't read DVD on my computer (unless the file is actually a WMV or something), also I hope I'll get it anyway sooner or later, but it's a great experiment. Anyway torrents are just a way to distribute files, just like HTTP, so there's no difference from making available a file in one way or the other. Actually, the only difference is that torrents are much more effective, so this is good for the server and the users.

OK I give in, I'm going to join the Bit Torrent cult.

I just download bit torrent from www.bittorrent.com and within a couple minutes I'm downloading Glastonbury. So far so good!

Right now it says 3 days so I'm failing to see how this is faster? But I guess when more people start downloading this it will get faster?

anybody know any good bit torrent sites for new order recordings?

yeah man, that's my bro's alegro with a 12" subbie in the back. we spent one saturday afternoon kitting that puppy out... tweeters in the dash, amps under the seats, new speakers in the doors & parcel tray... u can hear us coming down the road 1km away!

I had an Alegro deluxe many years ago. It broke down when I was going to play footy one day so we pushed it in the river Mersey. Probably lasted 20 seconds before it rusted away!

*It's not faster, it's just more effective. It has an excellent resume feature, as long as there's one peer uploading it doesn't matter how long it takes and how many times you have to resume, you know you'll get the file, and you have also the pleasure of uploading yourself even before the file is complete, helping others getting the file. For an excellent and light program try also ABC

I realized you cant go faster then your provider allows. (Maybe I should pay the extra bucks and get a faster connection?) But Bit Torrent is still cool because its more stable, there are no disconnects. And if it allows me to help out on the downloading, then I'm all for it.

Not read the whole thread, but.... Excellent a nool tracker's a much better idea then public tracker. For a good reason. If we track gigs here, everyone who downloads them will have the studio versions of the contained songs, meaning they hold a license to the published material. Since there is no mechanical copyright in live bootlegs, the publishing license is all you need :) (unless the band don't like bootleggers then they get into the unauthorized recording excuse).

Make sure only persons logged into the forums can use the tracker, otherwise you could get in trouble ( the RIAA shut down and then don't even bother with the questions later...they've killed more than one legal site before, that's why purelivegigs wants evidence that you;re allowed to share $BAND's gigs) And if anyone reposts these to pirate bay or mininova, take them out and shoot them. this could be SUCH a good way to trade live shows, instead of using all those ( come back later we're full) tracker sites, or the generous folks here making CD's for people.

For whoever has no DVD drive....if it's an ISO, mount it with alcohol or something and tell powerdvd or whatever to use the virtual drive ( same should work if it's a bunch of video-ts and vob files) This is certainly how I watch downloaded dvd iso's in linux, and I've done it in windows too, although windows media players are generally far stroppier about their source cos of fucking DRM and DCSS and all that crap.....remember that if I buy a DVD and watch it in Linux, i commit the same crime as if I downloaded it....not a terrific incentive to buy movies is it.

Unles it give you specific trouble.....use azureus, it's by far the best, many others have stats trouble and other issues (including reduced download speeds sometimes). Either Azureus or just the real original bittorrent (which I still use now and then, cos I can run it in text mode)

Torrent numbers seem to be zipping away for me!!!

Re: uploading more than you downloaded. That's a good thing, it'll save you seeding so long when you're done. I know some of you are wide eyed innocents on this, so I've disabled rant mode for now :) Torrenting only works (in general, but particularly in NOOLs case, where it's being used as a sustitute for locally hosting 100's of downloads of a huge file) if you upload at least what you download, and if everyone adds even 1-2% more than that, tis sweet download heaven.

The E-donkey leeching bastard approach will get you nowhere. Mind you, for NO gigs, I'm probably the worst fooker on this thread, I always find them when there's plenty of seeds and no other downloaders for weeks. my ratio on dimeadozen's hovering about .6, which is most poor.

Still, I doubt anyone here would leech, just thought I should mention that upping more than downing is normal...remember you may only have 1/3 of the file, but 8 people may want that 1/3.

Word to the wise...do not saturate your outbound connection, it will slow down your downloads like crazy, and destabilize the uploads. Best thing to do is adjust the outbound limiter in azureus until the stats graph for upload is perfectly flat....the exact speed needed varies from day to day depending on how many torrents are running and what they're doing.

does anyone know the difference between this dvd and the current glastonbury 05 on dimeadozen? the dimeadozen file size is much smaller. are there extras on this one?

Haven't downloaded the DimeaDozen version, but this one has the ending of "Regret" that the DAD version doesn't seem to have (at least according to its setlist).

Good to see this torrented at NOOL, I received the DVD earlier this week so I won't be needing to download it but hopefully more torrents will be put up here one day.

You COULd copy it to your HD and help seed :)

Which graph and where's the Outbound limiter setting....been looking but can't find?
