In the latest edition of Irelands HotPress, there is an interview with Hooky. A friend, to whom I gave an outline of some possible good questions, did the interview.

I made sure to ask him about the new album, and self-production VS external producers. He said that the external producers were on Bernard’s instance – to stop the band from arguing. Hooky says he “hated” Stuart Prices work, and he was brought in just to please the record company “they brought him in, and he left my bass out – the turkey”. He also comments on how much he admires the interviewers ADDIDAS trainers :evil4: so that conspiracy will continue. Hooky says they have 7 songs ready to go – and if he had his way they would have the new album done asap – and get back on the road, but he is always amazed how long it takes. He also says that DJ sets are a kind of live replacement for him – because he cant play as often as he would like due to Bernards hatred of touring.

He also said that the band have approved the script for “control” and that it wont be history according to Tony Wilson - this time round they are trying to get an honest, truthful story out with the consent of “all sides”.

There was also an interesting bit where he talked about how even now they are getting to know Ian better – that they have seen letters written to Annek and that they have seen the suicide note – so I gather that must be down to the production of the film. Does it have her cooperation?

Anyhow – I don’t have a functioning scanner these days. If any Irish onliners do – then could they scan it up? It is the Hotpress with the GAA people on the front. I haven’t talked to Steven since Oxygen (where the interview was conducted) so if he has any more info/interview available, Ill ask if I can put it up here. It will be a while though – cause Im doing fucking August exams.
